Makes sense. If he’s going if they’re relegated anyway then May as well give it one last manager bounce blast to stay up.
They don’t have to go down because Sean did such a good job before this. He doesn’t have the right to relegate them
They should have been relegated years ago based on their budget and how little they spend. Dyche has had them pushing significantly above their station for years. If they finally do get relegated, then that's not a mark against Dyche. It's the inevitable finally happening.

Crazy decision. Hate Burnley in terms of the way they play, not a fan of Dyche either BUT he’s done a phenomenal job for Burnley. They have punched massively above their weight for years. Now they are punching at their weight they sack him? Feels like SAF would’ve been sacked three or four times in the current climate.

Honestly, who would want to manage Burnley right now? Would Big Sam even want the job knowing they'd sack him as soon as he didn't get promotion after spending 20p and a packet of Haribo during the summer transfer window?

Parasitic ownership ruining another club.

Well done to the fit and proper test.

Smart move to close an illustrious cycle, stop overachieving, manage expectations and set up as a Championship side for a while. It’s all on Dyche the overperformance, yet Burnley cannot sustain that indefnitely as a normal.

Surprising but he’s taken them as far as he could. Surprised he hasn’t moved on in all honesty.

Everton for his next job? Can’t see Lampard staying too long even if he does keep them up.

what a dumb decision. They're probably closer to League One than the Premier League without Dyche ... enjoy the Championship.

They are a rubbish squad with rubbish players: do you honestly believe someone else is going to do a better job which such a bespoke outfit?

It’s a suicidal move, imo. How many managers have the expertise to get the best out of a bunch of plodders fighting for their lives?
Isnt one percent better than no percent? He’s failed this season, there’s no doubt about it

Clubs/Fans don't want to be associated with his shit on a stick brand of football.

Depends who they appoint though to attempt that bounce.

If it's Big Sam, then fair enough some short term logic at least.

If it's just a Ryan Mason style youth team coach appointment (given they've also sacked of Dyche's backroom staff) or some random guy from abroad who wants build up to be 20-30 passes before they even reach the penalty area they'll barely win a game in the run in and it will feel like a terrible decision.

Dyche will get another premier league job within a year.

Can only think Burnley believe hiring a new manager now with 8 games to go create a positive new manager bounce but I just can't see with the squad of players they have.

Not sure on that. Wilder didn't. Likes of Palace jobs were ones Dyche could've been in for but he was overlooked.

Think Dyche would be a great pick up for West Brom personally.

But do you believe someone else can come in and do a better job with that terrible, bespoke squad ?

I usually get it with new manager bumps etc, but that’s with the more generic squads not something like Burnley with their anachronistic, antiquated ways and players.

How can The Athletic understand? Nobody else does

Absolutely moronic decision. He was their best bet of staying up and didn't deserve a sacking after everything

Think only logic is to appoint one of Big Sam, Pulis or even Warnock tbh. Pretty uninspiring but all three play a very similar style and perhaps a fresh voice could get them 2-3 wins.

Think it’s still bonkers. Big Sam, sure, but how are you going to fare with the other two? You’re going through all of this to bring in managers no better than what you had?

Although it's a weird move it's probably good for them both. Dyche now has nothing to stop him taking another job (Feel like his loyalty to Burnley always stopped him moving on) and Burnley have one last chance at trying to stay up. I remember the outcry when that bloke at Southampton was sacked and then Poch/Koeman etc. did far better.
Was gonna say it. Could very well be another Adkins situation. Then again their financial situation doesn't look as healthy as Soton's.

United are going to hire him hoping we won't tell the difference between him and Ten Hag.

That should definitely see the back of them in the PL then thankfully.

I remember it was widely thought that Pulis wouldn’t get another Premier League club in the future when he was at Stoke, due to the hideous style of football. However he ended up getting 2 more at Palace and West Brom. Admittedly Stoke never looked like getting relegated under him, though things did look a bit ‘sketchy’ for them during his final season, when they were only a few points above the bottom 3 with 5 games left, before crucial back to back wins pulled them away. But adjusted for inflation, he had stronger financial resources there thanks to the backing of Peter Coates and Bet365, than Dyche has had at Burnley.

I think that regardless of Burnley’s style of play, Dyche’s stock is high enough for him to get another Premier League job relatively soon.

if they didn’t want them to go down maybe these stupid ass boards should have spent more money rather than blame the manager. Let’s face it Burnley are a championship team, they should accept it. Dyche has performed miracles for them even getting them to where they are

I dunno, there always seems to be some kind of bounce for the lower end sides hence why these fire fighter managers actually find jobs.
If they go down then Sean goes anyway imo. I’m surprised it took this long after his entitled comments about the takeover and not being happy he wasn’t consulted. Sean might have been a little too comfortable at Burnley this season

Mental. It’s a roll of the dice by the club to stay in the premier league but Burnley will be incredibly fortunate to find a manager who is as good as Dyche. He has done an incredible job at what is a small club with a small budget. Burnley were always going to get relegated one day but Dyche would probs be a safe a bet as any manager at taking them back up.
