Should be transitioning the ball more from left to right but the ball is just going one way which makes it an easy job for Burnley to defend against. To be fair that's what they want, they funnel the ball out wide. If Young crosses the ball then they are happy.

Need to get the right side more involved and to do that we need to get the ball out right. Not that complicated. I expect us to do better in the 2nd half.

How can the right side get involved when every time Mata gets the ball on the right he comes inside and congests the already congested area. He is too slow to get away from any player. Get Fellaini on and put Lingaard on the right or even Rashford. Or Shaw on the left, Young on the right and push Valencia up on the right instead of Mata and Fellaini for Mata.

Looking at the United bench, it is difficult to pinpoint an obvious player to bring on. Herrera would offer intensity but Matic has not been that bad. Rashford could threaten more than Martial but the Frenchman probably deserves to stay on. If it is Fellaini, then that is just going to play into Burnley’s hands. They appear to be at their most comfortable when the ball is in the air.

This is the problem with Mata. It is not his space that he is encroaching. He should not be looking for space in others players space. He is playing on the right and he needs to stretch the defence by taking away from the play the opposing player who is trying to mark him. Not bringing him inside into an already congested area and making it more congested and not giving our players any space.
