Realistically being the key word. Obviously everyone still in it has a chance, but only a few can realistically do it.

PSG, Real, Barca, city

Sanchez may just be a game changer. We've got a brilliant core. De Gea, Bailly, Matic, Pogba, Martial, Sanchez, Lukaku. If you get those players playing well and kept fit, I don't see any reason why United can't do it.

Also we do generally tend to win it in this part of the decade..

Thoughts?

Depends on the draw really, but I still favor Barca for it this season.

Barca and PSG are probably our biggest threats. I believe we can beat Real and City in a two leg tie.

Undoubtably. We have an excellent cup manager who very seldom loses finals and who has already won it twice before. Once winning UEFA Cup and CL the very next season. Jose could do that again.

We've also just signed one of the best players in the world.

Undoubtably.

Yes. We should beat Sevilla and with Mourinho and now Sanchez, anything can happen.

A good draw and some luck makes your chances of winning the CL much higher.

We have an outside chance. Seems pretty unlikely though.

We’re still in it. It’s a knockout tournament, anything can happen.

Of course we can. The CL is very open this year anyone who thinks we don't stand a chance are kidding themselves. Mourinho has proved himself time and time again in Europe. We're capable of beating the top teams over two legs.

Very difficult, We need proper experience in Europe.
Not making right decision in final third like Rashford, Lingard and Pogba are doing recently will make sure we are dumped out well before the final. It will take some experience and at least 3 more world class players.

Yes, we can. This signing could be a turning point. Everyone's buzzed, players and fans alike, let's see whether it's the huge momentum shift we expect it to be.

Don't be silly. Please oh mighty Spirit of 1999.
If you mean you don't think United have a chance, I don't know why

It's a freak season from city, any other United would be top and have just added Alexis Sanchez to that team.

Why not!? Defensively we look solid and now our attacking line is truly world class. We can compete with the elite.

Depends on a good draw. With one of Madrid/Paris to be out next round, we're gonna need Barca to play (potentially) PSG + another "easy" opponent for us in the quarters and then an English team in the semis I guess. If we make it to the final, Jose is the man to win it

Of course we can. We have just as much chance as any other team or as any other time we've been in the competition.

As for PSG, Barca, Real, or City I don't personally think any of them are to be scared of. Sure, they're strong teams and any one of them could win it, but I don't see any as a truly dominant team like Real have been recently or Barca were for the best part of a decade (I'm aware they are dominating La Liga this year but I don't think they're untouchable).

Then again, maybe I'm just an optimist.

Honestly - For all the big names - I've yet to see it tick for them. With Arrival of Sanchez - More pressure comes and I reckon it will take a while to settle the team

Mourinho has won the champions league with weaker sides then he has now and knocked out stronger then any team out there right now. IMO we have a better squad now with Sanchez then inter in 2010 (and Porto in 2004) while he knocked out pretty much peak Barcelona in 2010 en route to winning it. As long as everyone gets fully committed to the task and understand it fully, if we get luck with injuries and of course some luck on the pitch, then it's possible.

We have José, we have Sanchez, we have Dave. Think the signing of Sanchez will prove to be a pivotal point. Let's go get that beautiful trophy!

I also think come March/April time if we're in a position where the PL is absolutely gone but top 4 is effectively sealed (a lot of wins before that happens admittedly) then Jose will make the CL the priority

Sorry, but no. Zanetti and Maicon were superior fullbacks to both Shaw, Young and Valencia. Milito is one of the most underrated strikers of this generation and superior to Lukaku, also Eto'o at that time was a better player than Martial is now.
Cambiasso, Stankovic, and Sneijder also all better than Lingard, Herrera.

But still I think we have a chance for the champions league with a lot of luck like when Chelsea won.

Why not?. I said that before alexis saga. On two games mourinho can win against any team.
And it is not like we are complete underdogs.

I don't see why we cannot win it, PSG v Real Madrid means one huge rival will be going out this round, so as long as we can get through our tie, then it is most definitely on.

We have by far the best chance out of any English side, so we have that in our favour, plus we have Dave, and he is always someone you would want on your side, rather than against you.

Having a tight defence is always key in a tournament such as this, and that is what we have, even more so once Bailly comes back.
With Lingard, Sanchez, Pogba, Martial, Rashford, Ibra, and Mata, we have so many exciting forward players to select from that will allow us to rotate and call upon someone if needs be.
I can't really see too many other sides having as many top quality players to select from on those attacking areas.

It is our trophy if we want to win it; it s that simple.

Yes, I don't see a clear favourite this season. Barca, despite their amazing league form this season, are a worse team overall than they were last year or when we met them in 2011. Real Madrid have struggled a lot this season, Juventus and Bayern have been winning games but haven't played that well either, PSG are still yet to prove their class in CL as they have never got past quarterfinals.

We aren't favourites but it won't be a massive shock if we win it or come close. Mourinho has won it twice with worse teams.

We're not better than the favourites so we'll need lots of luck to win it. I'd be pretty happy if we managed to knock out one of the big guns though, it'd be a good indicator of how much we've improved.

Of the remaining teams, i'd say the following teams are the ones we would struggle to beat at present:

Barca
Bayern
Juve
PSG
City

I think that Real are beatable right now, Roma have been inconsistent this year, and we're capable of beating all of Chelsea, Liverpool and Spurs. I don't consider Porto, Besiktas, Sevilla, Basel and Shakhtar as a threat, or likely to go any further than they already have.

I don't think we'll win it, I think that probably comes down to Barca, City or PSG on current form. We could probably turn over Bayern and Juve with some luck on our side and if we're in good form. If we got to the semis, i'd be more than happy. I think the quarters is more likely.

Yeah but this season all other challengers aside from Juve will be in position to rest players in the league too.

Why do you compare them to Lingard and Herrera (who isn't even a first team player here) and not Pogba and Matic? Or compare Eto'o with Sanchez not Martial? Then compare Martial with Pandev who play the same position.

Why compare Shaw with Zanetti and not Chivu who played in that position, while comparing Zanetti with Matic instead.

You've done literally everything wrong to prove a point.

Missed out one of the most recognised and respected footballers in the world Zlatan.

PSG and City for me are favioutes but Spurs/United/Liverpool/Chelsea/Barcelona/Madrid/Juventus/Bayern are all capable of winning it and beating each other on their day.

Let's say it wouldn't be the most surprising CL win in the last 20 years. Still very unlikely.
