Benfica, Basel and København.

Real, Napoli and Celtic.

Both possible.

That really would be a dream draw for pool / spurs. Absolute piss. Our 'nightmare draw' isn't too bad though we'd possibly start as third favourites behind Napoli. I'm surprised we're in pot 2 to be honest but can't complain.

Chelsea always get lucky draws, tbh.

Wouldn't be adverse to some Real Madrid action in the group.
As long as we don't have the best teams of pot 3 and 4 of course!

Napoli and Liverpool aren't even in the CL yet and possible groups are being discussed. What's the point?

Weird seeing Barca in Pot 2. How do the Portuguese and Russian champions get an automatic seeding in Pot 1 ?!

It's a completely different feeling when you can follow your own team in the CL. Participation is something I've taken for granted in the past (though I think most of us did), but not anymore.

Looking forward to coming on the end of a hopefully successful transfer window and seeing what Jose has up his sleeve for us in the CL. He's one of, if not the best managers in European competition and I feel very lucky to have him at the helm. His experience and tactical generalship are huge assets in our favour. Realistically speaking, I think a strong run would be nice for our first year back and the main priority would be perhaps to send a statement of intent out. This season the CL will probably be of most use in augmenting our attractiveness to transfer targets this summer such as Griezmann. But who knows? As I said this will be the first serious experience in the CL for many of our players, but not for the manager. If things go our way with regards to the draw we could end up going farther than we think. I don't think we have any plausible chance of winning though unless we sign a few world class players this summer.

In the group stage draw, it looks like there's a decent chance we can get a tough team like Madrid. However looking at the nightmare draws posted above, I'd expect us to still qualify for the knockout stages by finishing 2nd.

Winners of the top 7 leagues (according to UEFA coefficients) go into Pot 1 + the defending champions of the UCL. If the latter is also the domestic champion (like this year) then the 8th best league's winner will get the last place in Pot 1.

Yes.

A will happen if Sevilla lose their qualifier and Napoli win theirs or finish second in the Italian league-last round of fixtures this weekend.

B will happen if Napoli finish 3rd in Italy and lose their qualifier.

I'd quite like Real or Bayern in the group stages provided the other teams weren't too strong.

I know it's been a long time of absolute abysmal results, but still, I think we can manage a group containing Napoli, Celtic and Real.

According to Bert, Liverpool could face any one of 5 teams; CSKA Moscow (if they get through) , Sporting Lisbon, Hoffenheim and 2 others who have yet to come through the qualifiers.

On one hand I want us to get an easy draw aka spartak or shaktar but on other hand I want us to be drawn with either of Bayern or real or juve. That will give us a good indication of where we belong. I don't think I fear facing any one of those three teams in the group stages.

Have to say it feels great to be back in champions league.

on the paper maybe, based on Roma's performances in Europe not that sure. The real risk for top teams is Napoli if it stays in pot 3 (which might not happen) because they are an excellent team with a style of play that suits the CL

Our potential draws look fecking appalling tbh.

Bayern, Barca, Roma is not unrealistic and would be brutal. 1st in Germany, 2nd in Spain, 2nd in England and 2nd in Italy.
