I really rather want to bump one of the five or six threads where I said Chelsea were going to struggle, but they've been so much worse than I ever anticipated that I won't exactly look terribly prescient.

We'll never have a better chance to finally win another game at the Bridge..

Bet we get Inter, RAWK will back Inter after a goal-less first leg claiming it is all in Rafas master plan, then scream corruption when we beat them at home. Just like old times

McEachran is going to a special player.

Needs to bulk up, though.

The Champions League
Just back from the Partizan game - can't believe how poor both sides were - we were obviously well below our best tonight, and for the sake of football, I hope Partizan had a shocker, because they were dire. At home, they at least put up some sort of fight.

To use a cliche, we had one eye on United, and we breezed through it. Could have been a mauling if we'd even turned up at half pace. Seems to me as if no-one's injured, barring Gibbs, so we're all set for Monday.

I reckon we could beat any team bar Barca. The standard really seems to have slipped this year.

Talk about complacency kicking us in the bollocks......so we'll get what we deserve - no complaints

Avoiding Barca would be very good as they'll hammer us ( probably anyone else for that matter) and although the others are good sides we have a chance against them

Saying that I spose if there is even a dog's chance v Barca it's maybe earlier in the competition when they'll not be totally firing on all cylinders

But, what a foolish position to be in after winning the first three matches - only needed a point in the matches against Donetsk or Bragga away

Well Arshavin must have taken a brown envelope! how can a player so good be so poor - fk me ! He needs to man up that lad.

Koscielny really worries me now - he's beginning to be a liability in the Cygan / Stepanovs mould and he, to compound it, makes Squillaci a worse player who's not confident and nervous although I think Squillaci has the makings of a decent centre back alongside Vermaelen hopefully

Defensively we're shit poor and I'm afraid it won't take a lot from Rooney, Berbatov and Nani to open us up on Monday

I hope Koscielny is just 'first season in PL adjusting' but as time goes on he's giving me the shits

This from Cedric Roquette French football journo

"Koscielny has everything you expect from a defender - except a massive frame," explained Roquette.
"He is a fighter and has a never-say-die attitude. He sticks to opposition strikers like glue and is an outstanding header of the ball, at both ends of the pitch.
"But most importantly, Koscielny is a footballer. He has a great feel for the game and will always look to play his first pass along the ground. Rarely does he go long.

Fk knows who he was watching then :wenger:

The time to take on Barca would be the QF, with the 2nd leg on 13/4 and El Clasico on 17/4.

Koscielny is one of the best readers of play I've seen, he makes heaps of interceptions. But you're right, he hasn't gelled with the Squid - who himself is what we expected, an experienced reliable defender. Also, our game plan really isn't suited for blooding young inexperienced defenders, with Song being asked to push so high up on the pitch we have holes that can be exploited when we turn the ball over. Not ideal for two new defenders that have never played in the EPL.

I think it's inevitable that United will score against us too.

As for Arshavin, he's had an up and down season, but regardless he's been effective as farq.

Arshavin's been a huge let down from his promising start. 'Man up' as Jopub put is totally apt. He came to England as a supremely talented footballer and started well enough but since then his quality has shone only on and off. He makes the old Anelka look bright and up for it!
