At this moment of time, he walks in to our midfield and is a starter. So more game time at Utd then Spurs.

No brainer we bring him in on a free.

He’s becoming underrated very quickly it seems.

False 9's aren't necessarily suppose to be good at those things they are not a focal point like a target man.
Exactly.

A false 9 will be someone who moves towards the ball from a high to deeper position and hence vacates the space in-front of the CBs, which will then force the CBs to make a decision to either plug the vacated space to maintain compactness and thwart the opponent from overloading the half and centre spaces. But that then can leave the back-line exposed to wide attacking threats who will have space to get in behind.

It's a ploy to unhinge the opponents defensive structure which has the potential to open up space for team mates to exploit. You don't need to hold up play or have pace necessarily to play the role, but rather to understand the role starting on the training ground.

I can understand why a lot of players would choose Spurs over United in 2022. Better stadium, more likely to win things, CL football, the London factor, a more successful manager.

But I can't see why Eriksen would personally. He's been there already and wasn't he regularly benched under Conte at Inter? I feel like Ten Hag's way of playing is much more suited to him generally.

Martin Lipton, who seems to be well connected at Spurs, was on Off The Ball yesterday and said he expects Eriksen to sign for Spurs.

For whatever that’s worth.

Would take him in a hearbeat (no pun intended).

This is a no-brainer.

Anyone who wants to play Eriksen in a double pivot is smoking crack. As a back up to Bruno fine but even then whats happening with Donny? Doesnt make sense even on a free even though he's a good player unless we are selling Donny or Bruno

Their stadium has 0% of the history OT does and is much smaller. It’s not a better stadium unless you’re fully backing the Americanisation of English football. People who never to go OT seem to genuinely think the roof is about to cave in any second. It’s still a spectacular stadium and I bet 90% of players are attracted by the possibility of playing there over the Tottenham Stadium.

Spurs have won 2 league cups since 1991. Are they more likely to win things?

The narrative against ourselves gets pushed a little too hard sometimes. We’re talking about Spurs here ffs.

I would love Eriksen to be at united but I fully expect him to sign for Spurs to be honest. I have no confidence in our negotiating team.

Fully expect him to go Spurs given the choice (how far we have fallen!) but I think he'd be a decent signing. We have a lack of players comfortable in possession.

Even if he doesn't start he's the type of player you can bring on to help control a game. The new 5 subs rule will mean more rotation.

Pretty sure he hasn't been starting as a 10 for Brentford as many keep saying he is. Far more of an 8 than Bruno.

I'm surprised to be honest re the Spurs connection, he had an unhappy spell playing for Conte at Inter and I thought there was some bad blood between him and Levy, although I may be wrong on that. I'm not usually a fan of players returning to teams. It's probably his last big move, so he needs to choose wisely. I'd like him at Utd, I think players comfortable in possession and have the ability to pass are commodities we are short on. He'd be a great player to have in rotation over a long season, plus to have someone who can hit a set piece is another element we don't have many of.

OT still fecking dwarfs the place, what next, they’d choose that over the Nou Camp too which is in a way worse state?

Really? He seems to be playing much deeper these days, and seems to be coping fine.

Season 22/23

Eriksen for free + Kenneth Taylor from Ajax. MV at 4.5 mill euro.

De Jong from Barca - 60 mill £ with adds on. If De Jong help United to win premier league

ETH might will end up with this line up :

Raphinha - Eriksen/Taylor - Jong/Fred/Garner - Bruno/DVB - Rashford/Sancho + Ronaldo/Rashford/Bruno. Good enough for top 4

Season 23/24:

Declan Rice on his last year of contract. If he doesnt renew new contract. Then get Rice to free De Jong offensive, flair, creative skills a la De Bruyne for a more offensive role a la Iniesta role.
With De Bruyne, Iniesta and De Jong skill, flair, beat and pass one on one in central midfield area. You just dont hold him back to do simple passes and spread the passes around. Those job and things can Garner, Fred and Rice do it. But not every cm player are like Iniesta, De Bruyne, D Silva, Foden and De JOng. Ability to pass players with the ball in good control.
Those skills and abilities are needs for every teams that are playing 433. To get the most out of 433 formation and total football.

Then the line up could be :

Bruno/Taylor/Eriksen - Rice/Garner/Fred - De Jong/DVB
Raphinha just magically appears in your lineup

Who cares how big it is doesn’t change the fact that Old Trafford is a dump and seriously outdated.

if I’m a modern day player with zero connection to united I wouldn’t give a crap about playing home games there it’s not a “special“ stadium anymore.

Strongly disagree. These stadiums represent so much more than the last ten years. It’s the same with the San Siro or Camp Nou. I’m sure 99.9% of players are more than aware of this, and it would still mean more to them then playing in a modern, shiny stadium with no history or character.
