All I'd like to see is the Premier League cover the papers with actual headlines of "City found guilty of systematic cheating over multiple seasons, premier league titles should be nullified". What we'll get with City's purchasing of the media will be "City and the Premier League have agreed to settle the 115 charges behind closed doors, and both now view the matter as settled."

I agree, it's no sort of deterent to give them something that may set them back for a season or two at most. Any sort of punishment needs to be long term.
The main realistic thing is that they are forced to admit their guilt. They have no care for fines or transfer bans, even relegations don’t really change much long term but it has to made clear that the recent success was achieved by cheating. No grey area, no technicalities, something forever seen as a period of systematic cheating.
What I think is very telling is that when this story broke one of the main talking points was stripping titles. It has only been through a concereted effort to change the narrative that people are no longer even discussing this - thats the extent media in britain is in thrall to emirati money in my opinion. Without realising, time has been allowed to pass and the idea of what the absolute maximum punishment should be has grown less and less damaging and people seem to forget where we started.

A one off docking of 80 points is nowhere near enough of a punishment. Sure they’d get relegated but it would only be for one season and they’d bounce straight back up and it would be business as usual again. You’d really need to strip them of all titles won during the timeframe in question as well to make it a worthy punishment.
If not then dock them 80 points for the next three seasons in the PL, so if they gain promotion from the championship then they automatically start that PL season on -80 points and you rinse and repeat that a further two times when they enter the league again.

I am far from sure that a transfer ban is within the list if sanctions that the panel have available irrespective no much how much we would all want this to be true I won’t believe anything about anything until I read the written reasons
Starting on -80, whilst I would agree with it, makes all of City's games irrelevant. Are the PL not obligated to show a certain percentage of each teams matches live?

I completely agree with what you have said mate but unfortunately I can't imagine the youth of tomorrow caring about how they got to where they are. If nothing happens to City over the 115+ charges then I would imagine it will be forgotten about in a few years time and they will continue to cheat their way to becoming the most decorated club in the PL in the next 10/20 years. We will know but we'll be the minority in the background telling anyone that will listen about how their trophies shouldn't even count..
I seriously hope for footballs sake that they get punished and their trophies are voided or atleast have a asterisk beside them going forward. I see it being the end of football for quite a few people otherwise, unfortunately.
Isn't the time frame for these charges 2010-2018 or something like that? I saw an interview of Pep bragging about how Liverpool couldn't reach 100 points this season and then he listed off his other 'achievements' with City like the domestic treble in that humble way of his- it would be funny if two of them were declared null

In a non exaggerated way any finding of guilt, in any capacity, directly implicates Abu Dhabi. There is no way there are not a lot of negotiations going on separate to the actual court verdict if they have been found guilty.
Applying points deductions mid season has always struck me as odd to be honest. Everton were yo-yoing up and down the table with every decision, appeal and then reduction in the point deduction. I agree with you it seems cleaner to wait until the season is over and then apply the points deductions to the following season before it starts.
Winning every game would yield 34 points, enough to survive in 22/23 ( on goal difference), 23/24 and probably 24/25. I want a 90 - 95 point deduction to make it mathematically impossible to reach upper 20s and guarantee the cheats go down.

I'm still convinced they'll more or less get away with everything. Naturally they'll get a fine for some of the offences, with others being written off so that both sides can save face. They might even get a few points deducted, but it'll be at a time when it won't affect them too much like this season when they're winning nothing anyway.

Nobody cares about the 115 charges. They only need to fail one major one. The rest is just something to hold the big one up with.

i honestly thought that the ongoing one wasnt open to a lenghty appeal. but it is. you can absolutely forget them getting enough points to be relegated as if they can then appeal how would that even be factored in? relegate? not relegate? what happens the team in 18th.

Yeah I'd be surprised if you were wrong. Football is clearly corrupt, it has been for ages. The world is corrupt, has been for ages. Money and status quo will win every time. I would love to be wrong, and have a little hope that I am, but this seems like the most realistic result.
Beyond results, they’ve destabilized the financial ecosystem for European clubs generally. Infinite money injected from outside football that inflates prices and wages to a point that a normal football club relying on actual income from football sources can barely stay alive and remotely competitive. We’re an extreme example of a club who tried to use its massive football revenue stream to go toe-to-toe and it has almost destroyed us. Barca and Real are another two different examples of how it plays when you’re trying to strike the balance of competing in this new environment and staying financially healthy.
And this all propagates down to lower levels, and not just their direct competition. The financial picture is bleak for so many European clubs at so many levels of the game. What they like to call “status quo” before their oil money was a state of equilibrium. It’s no surprise that transfer fees and salaries have exploded as their money has come into the game.
PSR was too late, FFP too weak in enforcement and ultimately too easy to get around. My hope is that these mechanisms can protect against a repeat, but we also need strong retroactive punishment for all the damage that has been done. The premier league is complicit because as they were celebrating the league getting artificially stronger, not through better academies or better coaching, but through lax regulatory environment that allowed all this to happen, they were worsening the game as a whole.
