He's supposed to be the organizer and anchor of the back 4 and he's objectively one of the worst center halves in the entire league. Honorary mention to the fullbacks, who are ... bad. It's the worst group of fullbacks of any "top" English team.

Yes. Alderweireld breaking down by the time he was 30 and turning from one of the best CB's in the world to one of the worst has really hurt Spurs. Sanchez and Foyth were bought with the expectation there would be time for them to mature behind Toby + Vertonghen, but that luxury is gone.
The fullbacks have to be replaced, but everyone has known that for 2 seasons now. Rose is a ghost of what he used to be, and Walker was never replaced.

With our center halves and Dier at DM, I'm not sure how that helps. They just make so many killer mistakes in and around the box, regardless of how players are around them.
