Rally sons of Notre Dame:
Sing her glory and sound her fame,
Raise her Gold and Blue
And cheer with voices true:
Rah, rah, for Notre Dame
We will fight in ev-ry game,
Strong of heart and true to her name
We will ne'er forget her
And will cheer her ever
Loyal to Notre Dame

Cheer, cheer for old Notre Dame,
Wake up the echoes cheering her name,
Send a volley cheer on high,
Shake down the thunder from the sky.
What though the odds be great or small
Old Notre Dame will win over all,
While her loyal sons are marching
Onward to victory.

And then lose the last 5 games on their schedule.

exactly.

hope Charlie Weis falls right on his face.

their last two recruiting classes have absolutely stunk.

they don't have the athletes anymore and their mystique is all gone.

I've been to South Bend for a game...it is a total shithole with nothing to do

Did you visit the College Football Hall of Fame? Much as I hate the Sooners, I thought it should have been put in Norman, Oklahoma--in honor of Bud Wilkenson's 47 game win streak and more centrally located than the farm fields of South Bend. Besides, Will Rogers Airport makes it an easier trip.

I went to South Bend in 1995 for USC-ND it was an absolutely miserable day, cold, raining, two hour drive or something each way from Chicago. I did not visit the Hall....I wasn't even aware of it back then TBH and considering how miserable I was watchinng ND slaughter SC it was a day best forgotten.

as such I hate Oklahoma too so I'd be against putting it there...

that said not to many other places to put it where people could easily reach it.

Well, the first recognized college gridiron football game was in 1867 between Princeton and Rutgers, but, aside from Giants Stadium, I wouldn't want to put very many things in New Jersey.

true, you wouldnt want it to become even greater than it already is, blowing every other state out of the water.

Arizona State 63--Temple 16. Sun Devils need to work on that defense.
Is Temple in Louisiana?

I notice USC are only favoured by 35 this weekend in Hawaii :boring:

Nah--Temple is the state school in Philadelphia. They just got expelled from the Big East and will be an adjunct member of the Mid-American for two years before gaining full membership.

ASU was favored by 31 in this game.
Games out in Hawaii are often difficult to predict. USC is much better than the former Rainbow Warriors, but many teams forget that they headed out there to play football, spend too much time on the beach, and get embarrassed by the hosts.

It doesn't matter who's coaching the Hawaii defense, their game plan is to throw the ball and try to outscore you. In the absence of a proven ground game, an experienced defense like Troy's will crush the QB and have a field day.

Didn't Hawaii lose both their star QB and WR?

Yeah--Tommy Chang and wide-out Chad Owens used up their eligibility (whether they actually graduated is a different detail), but June Jones uses some run-and-shoot offense that uses about 4 wide-outs and no tight end, so he doesn't try to keep the score down by running the ball and controlling the clock. He's got a pair of young, untested QBs who will make a lot of mistakes, but will continue to throw--probably getting over 300 a game dispite interceptions and sacks.
The defense was the worst in the WAC last year and both Boise State and the locals, Fresno State, ran all over them. USC is better offensively than BSU or FSU, although both are potential top 25's this year, so if USC wants 77 points, they can get it easily.

our defensive is not as experienced with the loss of Cody, Patterson, Grootegoed, Leach, Tatupu, Manuel Wright and Eric Wright....though it should be more than enough to stop Hawaii.

our secondary is very strong,

our defensive ends are very strong.

our linebackers and defensive tackles are where the question marks are.

Dallas Sartz is a senior captain and returning starter at OLB, Keith Rivers is a sophomore and replaces Grootegoed, within 2 games he will be the man, and the next great college football OLB.

Middle linebacker will be the toughest to replace since Tatupu went pro early.

Oscar Lua is set to start but I wouldn't be surprisd to see freshman sensation LB Rey Maualuga push him and then win the job by the 4th or 5th game.

Frshman OLB Brian Cushing has been awesome in summer workouts and will be the 1st LB off the bench and is #2 on the depth chart behind Sartz.

defensive tackle will be tough. You don't lose Cody, Patterson and Wright without a dropoff.

Sedrick Ellis is a sophomore and will be awesome...he steps in for Patterson, LaJuan Ramsey is a senior and should do an adequate job of replacing Cody, after those two, things get very thin at DT.

Columbia doesn't need overtime to lose to a NY public highschool

were you alive back in the 80s when Columbia lost something like 60 straight games? It was hysterical

no but i hear the tales. we were on espn's countdown of worst ever sports teams and were within the top 10 i think.

supposedly back in the 50's we were the nation's football powerhouse according to one of my professors.

oh how times have changed.

well, considering IVY's don't offer athletic scholarships it'll never change.
