Conte | Spurs Manager

That will never happen. They need proper investment for starters.
We do and it will all hinge on this summer. Though the signings of Bentancur and Kulu show that you don't necessarily need to spend a fortune to get players of the required quality.

Arsenal s two games in hand are not much to be honest. One is against spurs and another against chelsea. So nothing between them to be honest.

It's not two games in hand if one of them is against us :wenger:

Judging a couple of players after a few games is beyond ridiculous, especially a Tottenham-fan should know that by now. N’Dombele and Lo Celso were heralded after a few games a year ago and both have left in shame, let’s wait a few minutes before you rate the pretty average Bentancur and Kulusevsli as «required quality», whatever that is for a Tottenham-fan these days. I wouldn’t be very surprised if Kulusevski is warming the bench sometime after the summer, he screams of purpoe patch after playing mostly relegation fodder.

Top class manager. Don't really get what the arguments against are other than he's tricky to work with.

Mediocre record in europe but that isn't an issue currently. Only poor league season in last decade really was 17/18 and even then he won FA cup.

Spurs are back to their best, reminiscent of the heights they reached under Pochettino. I expect them to be in the chase for the title next season provided Conte is backed with a few key additions

Wouldn't go that far.

90 point season is beyond them especially if they're back in CL.

Perhaps they could reach level of Chelsea, involved in title race up to December and then finishing reasonable 3rd.

Pochettino got them to 86 points in 2016/17 at his peak with similar quality in the squad. Can't see why Conte can't achieve the same points wise. I do hear what you're saying though, current Liverpool and City are 90 plus point teams

Conte is class, Spurs still have a bunch of clowns they need to move on. But if Conte is backed, a big if given Levy, they will be well in the mix for top 4 next season.

The Conte revolution is not complete until they get rid of the likes of Winks, Sanchez. But he has managed to ship out Alli, Lo Celso, Ndombele.

The big question mark is over where Kane will be come the start of next season.

They both look top class to me and I've seen enough to know they have made our team a lot better. Pretty average is your opinion and that's fair enough but I think you are totally incorrect.

Spurs current squad isn't close to being as good as that one. Not even close.

Which players from the current squad would get in ahead of:

Walker
Vertonghan
Alderweirald
Trippier

Dembele
Eriksen
Alli

Literally the only players that are not a downgrade on that squad are Kane, Son and Lloris and I'm sure you can figure out why that is. :D

Son and Kane are in better form than they were at that time IMO but I think almost every Spurs fan would much rather have the 2016/17 team than the current one.

*Moura might have a shout of getting into the above side to be fair.

Son, Kane and Alli all scored over 20 goals that season and drove their title challenge. This current Spurs squad is better than the Leicester city team that won the title the season prior, granted it was a weak season. Pochettino remains the only manager to have got a tune out of Alli. I can see Conte pushing this Spurs side past reasonable expectations, but I did add they'd need some key additions did I not?

Incredible that Utd rejected him
I bet the football people there wanted him, but knew it was never going to happen. The Glazers have a history with both Man Utd and Tampa Bucs of only hiring Yes Men. Them hiring Jose is still perplexing, but Jose has the Jedi mind trick of selling himself.

This thread will again go back to normalcy next week when conte lose a game.

Incredible some chelsea fans here want united to hire him when they sacked him few seasons ago. :D:D

I'm glad he went to Spurs out of the two.

It always ends hilariously badly with Conte but he gives you an excellent high before the mask slips. For Spurs it will probably be 3rd/4th and a maybe a cup (if they can't win anything under even Conte they never will), for United it could well have been the title, would certainly have been a challenge.

He will still most likely “only” finish 5th or 6th but he has improved them recently.
Also laughable how some claim now their squad is better just because Conte is doing a better job than Ralf.
Their attack is definitely better, it was even better when we had all our attackers here and in decent form, let alone now.
But in total it’s not better than our squad, bloody hell. 4 more weeks and people will claim West Ham or Brighton have a better squad than us.

Fair enough. Our problem aggravated in mourinho era and we don’t want someone on his mould to manage again even at the cost of few trophies. As long as pep and klopp here, I doubt Conte will the PL with any super squad. He’s a Top 6 manager at his best.

Said it before, should have gone for him for 18 months. We were perfect fit him and he was perfect for us at this point in time. Somebody was needed with real authority. He would have taught these lazy fecks a lesson and if somebody hadn’t towed the line then he wouldn’t have given two shits about that player.

A manager ruling with an iron fist was the need of the hour. Would have got us top 4 easily maybe also a cup win. And would have made easy for us also to clear out the deadwood next season. After his short stint we would be in a much healthier position then we could have hired someone for the long term. Not hiring him in October have set us back. Now we have to scrap everything and start from the scratch with an inexperienced manager in charge.

So they are top four then yeah?

Where were they when he took over?
There squad is poor, starting 11 is decent, by Emerson Royal, Doherty, Dier, Davies...would they start for any other top 6 team?
Man you make some of the most childish response. They are top four, so was west ham. The table changes frequently. At the end of the season, Manchester United is suppose to nab fourth spot, then if not us it should be spurs. So far, the end of the season isn't here but united and Spurs haven't achieved that expectation yet

What i found incredible funny is how people keep talking about Conte defensive football, yet all of his teams are top 2 scorers in the league. He outscore US, City and Liverpool when he won the title with Chelsea.

They war far behind us, when he took over, and now they are 3 points clear in front of US. On top of that they already have scored more than us, which wasn't the case when he arrived, we were in front in that too.

Their squad is terrible. Most of their players are below average. He turn it around and make totally garbage players, looks like decent one. He is always doing this in every team he get. There is tons of example for that.

Also people talk about Kane, but Kane has been terrible before Conte come to Spurs. People were saying he is set and done.

He absolutely transformed them, which was obvious, as he is a World Class manager.

Also one last thing as people are claiming he coulnd't do this here at United. You serious? There was stats before he goes to Tottenham and their team was dead last in the running department. They were the laziest squad in the whole league. Yet people are talking that our players are lazy and no one can't motivate them, which is completely untrue. It's about the manager.

I have said it for long time that we made huge mistake not appointing ihm.
Yeah I don't think he plays negative football. He didn't at Chelsea. He didn't at Inter. He didn't at Juve and he isn't at Spurs. Pressing all the time isn't the only way to play attacking football. I think it comes from the fact that he's a disciplinarian and likes battle hardy footballers.

I think Mou's comments in 2016 has subconsciously sowed the seed. That and he does play defensively when trying to prove a point (our game at The Ethiad in 2018 was disgusting).

But a fully motivated Conte team defiently does not, in the title winning season even the outside CB's were attacking.

Some serious mental gymnastics going on in here, we have a better squad than United? Poch had a worse squad? We have depth? Dick me gimmie some of what your smoking.
Welcome to redcafe. You definitely have a better starting attack, but not a better squad. I agree that poch had a worse squad. You guys have some depth, but not the same depth as united, Liverpool, Chelsea or city. Kulseviski was a brilliant signing. He is really intelligent despite not being that technically gifted or blessed with great athleticism. He compliments Kane and son well.

One thing for sure is Spurs has a better manager right now.

Conte has done really well. He’s got them playing and scoring. I honestly Don’t think he’d have achieved that with us, as the second he spoke the truth our players would have downed tools.

The truth is that after a poor start, Arsenal and Arteta have done well. They are my tip for 4th but Spurs will push and pressurise them.

Conte is a top class manager I would have taken him at Arsenal and I reckon Utd really screwed up by not going after him. Ragnorak is just the latest bizarre managerial appointment.

Poch most definitely did not have a worse squad, that's mental to suggest he did.

It's not a game in hand on Spurs if there's a game against Spurs. The other game in hand is Palace tonight.

How are they back to their best? They've lost 5 of their last 11 league games.

Couldn't agree more, missing out on Conte when we had to eventually terminate Ole soon after anyway, was a huge mistake from us. I don't know who are the people responsible for that mess, but they need to be held accountable and should be part of their review this year as a massive negative.

Uh, no. It's more that we want a manager for longer than 2 years and thought it best to hire from the ilk of ETH/Poch in the summer.

Before we start concluding how baffling the decision may or may not be, lets wait and see how our strategy pays off.

Well what was reported is that our reason for rejecting him was his “style of precise and exact micromanagement” not being “suitable for the players”. In other words our team of spoilt brats couldn’t take another intense manager who has actual expectations.

Some gossip about Spurs trying to add Toure within their coaching staff.

He has been in and around the club for a while now, before Christmas, on a part time basis. Seems he’s done enough to get a full contract, no idea if he’s a good coach but will be exciting for the younger players for sure.

Of course, he is right in saying that a winning club must have all its parts working properly… and he is surely assisting Spurs on a number of departments in order to accelerate their growth. It is something that cannot be made apparent through game stats only, but also on players’ attitude and desire, which are clearly on a different level right now if compared with a few months ago. After that… winning titles requires ready-made players, not only exciting prospects… That’s where the chips will fall if he gets a CL spot. Wanting to put him in a bracket (top 6 coach at best) is extremely childish, in that he has repeatedly demonstrated that he is as good as anybody out there at preparing league campaigns (or marathons, at the opposite spectrum of high-variance cup campaigns, which he is glad to sacrifice whenever they distract him from the main target).

Always rated him as a player

Conte is the guy we should have appointed. He has the personality required to sort out the first team, the charlatans and the ones who actual graft.

Missed opportunity.
