Could computer game addiction be the big problem in football

The 90s gaming was not a patch in what it is today.
I grew up late 80s 90s and was always out playing football after school and weekends.
The kids I coach in football now can’t wait to get home to play fortnite and the majority the only football they play is in training or a match.

This is bound to lead to more normalisation and addictiveness in the future imo. I think the op has a point.

Most Footballers now were born in the 90s but, they really grew up in the 00s and the youngest ones grew up in the 10s. So online gaming was around for their entire childhoods.

Mobile gaming has created much more life impact addiction problems than "regular" gaming IMHO. Back in the days I remember the amount of people getting fired/suspended/warned due to Farmville was something out of proportion.

I never enjoyed mobile gaming (only use it to play retogaming ROMs during my commutes on buses and subway), but I believe nowadays with all the technology available (disk space is rarely an issue on mobile devices nowadays) and with much cheaper 3G/4G prices, things are probably a bit over the top.
