Now people need to learn the difference. Everything you buy on Fortnite with v bucks is cosmetic. It does not alter the gameplay for you or for anyone. Where as Fifa even though the gameplay is bad you need a good team to compete on ultimate team. They release more player cards after player cards every week.
Fifa UT wouldn’t be gambling if for example they just let me buy a Ronaldo card with points. I’m getting what I paid for. But obviously it will be a long time before EA ever does that. They love people wasting their money.
Absolutely it will have an effect. They’re not bioforms. I recently read an interview with Neil Robertson, the snooker player, who would spend days and days continuously playing computer games. To the extent that he just wasn’t practicing. He also forgot to pick his kid up from school.

No, the one you are talking about (THE FREE ONE THE KIDS PLAY) doesn't have llamas you can buy. You again, are wrong. You can buy Llamas in save the world (two ll's, one m btw), but that is the single player non competitive mode. And in that mode you can freely give weapons to people and play together.

Fortnite in terms of what EVERYONE means when they say it (seriously, google just that world and check the hits for about 100 pages at least), is free and doesn't contain any gambling.

Also of course developers use tricks to keep people playing. Do you think they just want you to stop playing after a week? Some do it the right way and some not so. Activision used to do it the right way when they focused on gameplay in the early days rather than how many loot boxes they can fit on the map. Fortnite does it the right way. I don’t care if people can buy cosmetics. It doesn’t bother me. If they buy weapons then that’s a whole different story. Then you have cnuts like EA who try and put it in every game even Star wars which they got a lot of shit for.
But developers aren’t to blame if someone decides to play the game 15 hours a day. Just like TV companies aren’t to blame if someone watches TV for that long. That’s on the person to sort out.

The best example of dumbing down are the clicker games where you literally progress by bashing the screen and watching a shed load of adverts.
The only reason to do it the curiosity of the next reveal. It's the same basic mechanics that make travel fun and for kids to explore every nook and cranny

I think people are missing a trick discussing games as only being a problem when they're like gambling. The architecture of games is really distracting these days and it seems always want people to play outside of times they would ordinarily choose to. It's why things like Double XP Weekends and Special Skins exist. Part of the Attention Economy.

These games are literally cattle feed...press button for a reward...only the reward isn't even real.
Still to some extent it's better than things like PES 2019 mobile where you literally spend 10-20 hours a week playing games just for the chance of getting a better player for your squad so that you can continue winning most games anyway, because the challenge isn't that great.
Ever worse, some people are so obsessed with the cattle feed button that they actually pay money to receive more of the fake reward.
DLC and micro transactions have literally killed gaming. Even DLC was good at one stage and gave you something like doubling the size of a game...more like the historic expansions. Now they give you pointless outfits, crap 30 minute bolt ons and charge more than the game itself for these add ons.
It's a horrible zombie like system and it sucks badly.
