Far too early to predict or even suggest Rashford can become Uniteds all-time top goalscorer, Think of all the great strikers we had in the past & how long Charlton’s record stood, shows you how incredible scoring 250+ goals for United truly is.
Of course Rashford has age on his side could have anywhere between 9 & 14 more seasons at Utd but we have no idea what the future brings i.e Injuries, age & size of his decline after 30 years old, he may leave etc.
Before speaking of his overall goal record for Utd, he has some milestones I think he has to reach to solidify his status as Uniteds 1st choice striker in the years ahead.
1. Score 20+ Premier League Goals in a single season - not every season as off seasons can always happen but he has to prove he can do it.
2. Score 25+ Goals in all competition in all competitions - should be the expected total of Utds 1st Choice Striker. Zlatan & Lukaku both have done this in recent years
- Note with both of these he had been used as a sub a whole lot, played on the wing, played in a José Mourinho system as well as going through the inconsistent developmental years 18-22. So hasn’t really been given a chance to prove he can do this & at his age is no knock that he hasn’t, would have been amazing had he somehow achieved it but still stands, have to show you are capable by actually doing it
Following on, before looking at 250+. Rashford has the 50 goal milestone hopefully soon (potentially this season) but certainly whilst he’s 21. Which should celebrated in its own right rather looked past.
& finally slightly going off topic but also really looking forward to Martial getting to the 50 goals milestone too. To have you young players in the same squad reach these numbers around the same time, similar length of time at the club is fantastic & very exciting looking ahead
