I like Carragher as a pundit but that really annoyed me yesterday.
Giggs comments didn't help but the agenda started as early as the Wolves game, yesterday he was clattered like he was playing in the NFL and the ref didn't do a thing, Ole needs to address this issue publicly or the lad is going to get hurt.
Feel like punching Giggs for what he said .. James is one of the bravest players in our squad and was taking some significant hits at pace. Ridiculous this recent furore over him and Carragher was being a bellend.
This is when you miss players like Roy Keane & Paul Scholes. Virgil would have been tackled within five minutes of that cheap shot hit
I saw a bunch of cheap shots from the Scousers last night and it showed how frustrated they were.
Both occasions would have been carded if Salah or some other hot shot was on the other end of the hit. This is Premier League.
The 2 Liverpool CB's body checked him, because he was too fast for them. They should have been punished. He will get hurted if the ref keeps allowing this to happen.
I'm in favour of players getting bullied for exaggerating contact. A stigma should be attached to them, it's not enough for them to be kicked at, the boos should be consistent, and they should be shamed extensively in the media. Martial imo shoud've been the EPL's whipping boy last season. Now concerning D.James, the question is ... has he got away with exaggerating contact at any point thus far? If the answer is no, then Ole needs to sound like a broken record by constantly mentioning it. On the pitch, the captain needs to protect him, and teammates should be prepared to take one for the team with cynical revenge tackles, or words expressing animosity. If there has been a case where James avoided a booking through simulation then the current treatment he's received hasn't been severe enough.
Yeah but Google cannot show things that are not there, such as Daniel James being a diver. Judging by some posts you'd think he's a Neymar kind of guy.
Even more so when it's not him colliding with the defenders, but them lunging into him because they can't catch his shadow.
A lot of the times he just runs into people and expect people to move out of the way. He is super quick. But he needs to learn when to use that speed better. Learn to slow things down and isolate players before putting on the speed.
He's a little guy and he throws himself around. He needs to learn when to pull out of a challenge or he'll get hurt.
They were perfectly legal. Rough housing is part of the game, especially the english game.
The idea is that if the player cant completely trick and beat the defender cleanly, he must at least be able to rode or absorb a shoulder charge or impact
We do miss that player that will go and put in a hard challenge back on the offenders that makes them stop. This has somewhat left the game in general but it still goes on. People will be quick to reference Keane or Robson but we don't need to look very far back at all - Zlatan would have dealt with VVD & Matip and absolutely love it in the process.
James is not a diver and both the bookings he received were unfair, one was clearer than the other. I think people forget that when you run at speed, you sometimes have to take action to avoid someone you think is going to clatter you so you end up going down, so it can look like a foul. If you have to hurdle a bad challenge and lose balance because of it, despite no contact, it's still a foul much like you will be sent off if you throw a punch at someone and miss. I remember a penalty that Ronaldo won years ago where there was no contact but it was deemed a foul for this reason.
I think James, much like Ronaldo, is very brave to keep getting up and keep running at players because when you are chopped down regularly, it hurts and it adds up. James has a terrific temperament and he has been a very good signing so far.
I thought it should have been two frees for a bodycheck both times.
Giggs absolutely threw him under the bus calling it playacting (whether it was or not), it's one thing holding your leg etc to slow the game down, but pretending to be unconscious is a danger both to himself and others - he should be banned for it.
Probably incorrectly (as I believe he was clearly concussed & Giggs was protecting himself and Medical team) he now has a reputation for feigning injury & worryingly might end up ignored by players and a ref the very day he does have a serious head injury.
Note - it was the Liverpool players who put the ball out for him after second injury on Sunday. His own players chose to play on.
Of course he was.
I'd like to know how many free kicks and penalties that guy won, that figure would dwarf anyone else.
Vardy and Sterling won more penalties than Hazard. Hazard has won 9 penalties,
Vardy - 14,
Sterling - 16.
Zaha - 15
D.Silva - 10
What's the figure +freekicks?
Freekicks it's easy to find, just check the number of times players is fouled in whoscored.com.
Separate names with a comma.
