Mozza
It’s Carrick you know
After the first 20 minutes we bossed that game, reduced the place to silence by end, Fletcher would have made no difference at all.
Should sell it to Real Madrid. It is getting beyond daft this virus thing. What the feck is it, AIDS?
On a more serious note, we could do with him back as tonight we had to shoehorn Ryan Giggs, who was playing poorly, into the centre midfield role as Anderson was struggling.
You didn't boss the game at any point, Newcastle were on the front foot first half and you had more of the play in the second. They should have got a pen which would probably have settled it. Lucky point. After the first 20 minutes we bossed that game, reduced the place to silence by end, Fletcher would have made no difference at all.
United were overwhelmingly dominant in the second half, and should also have had a penalty (possibly two when you consider the handball from Rooney's shot). It was anything but a lucky point. You didn't boss the game at any point, Newcastle were on the front foot first half and you had more of the play in the second. It was a typical away performance other then not winning, see through the first 20 minutes and then take control as the adrenalin wears off the players and crowd, we made enough chances to winYou didn't boss the game at any point, Newcastle were on the front foot first half and you had more of the play in the second. There is a wiki for "Absofeckinglutely Ridiculous Statement" and low and behold, this was the number one example there. You didn't boss the game at any point, Newcastle were on the front foot first half and you had more of the play in the second. SAF had said there was also the testimonial. Are there any reserve games he can take part in?I don't think two games - if he can play 90 in both - will be enough to get him ready for the CL Final (to start, at least). Shame for him if he misses another one.
He's not completely fit. Still got a bit pain when he trains.I don't think two games - if he can play 90 in both - will be enough to get him ready for the CL Final (to start, at least). Shame for him if he misses another one.
Where did you read that about pain? He's just been working on getting weight back on and being match fit. He's not completely fit. Still got a bit pain when he trains.
I don't think testimonials or reserve games would get him properly match fit, unfortunately.SAF had said there was also the testimonial. Are there any reserve games he can take part in?
Heard him say itWhere did you read that about pain? He's just been working on getting weight back on and being match fit.
Problem being that it takes 14-21 days for the benefits of aerobic training to be realised.can we get this lad fully fit in 23 days?
That's what I was thinking. Didn't he just have the flu?Pain?
He wasn't injured.
Anyone would be debilitated for a long while if they had youIt sounds as if he's got ME. I used to be sceptical about it but a mate of mine was pretty debilitated by it for about two years.
Sports journalism at its finest.Darren Fletcher will miss Manchester United's pre-season tour of the United States to continue his recovery from a virus.
The Scotland skipper was sidelined for nearly all of the Red Devils' Premier League title run-in last season after being struck down by a virus which led to the midfielder losing a massive amount of weight.
It had been hoped Fletcher would be able to feature in United's UEFA Champions League final against Barcelona, but the 26-year-old was not even fit enough for the bench.
Sir Alex Ferguson was then optimistic the midfield maestro would play a big part in their trip across the Atlantic which begins on Monday, however he has been left at home to recover.
Fletcher's next targets will be to get fit for Paul Scholes' testimonial match against New York Cosmos on 5th August and the Community Shield showdown two days later against Manchester City before the Premier League season opener at West Brom.
Catch up
"Darren will remain at Carrington to undergo an individualised conditioning programme given he missed a large proportion of last season," a club spokesman said.
"This will help him catch up fitness-wise to the levels of the rest of the team.
"We tried to accelerate things but we want to give him the best opportunity to be fully fit for the new season. We feel a reduction in the amount of time Darren spends travelling will help him achieve this."
With the absence of Fletcher, Ferguson will take an initial squad of 21 with him including new signing Ashley Young, who has claimed the number 18 shirt previously worn by Paul Scholes.
David de Gea and Phil Jones, numbers one and four respectively, loan returns Tom Cleverley and Danny Welbeck, Mexican marksman Javier Hernandez and centre-back Chris Smalling, who has just penned a new five-year deal at the club, will all join the tour later having been given an extended break.
Miss out
Darron Gibson and Tomasz Kuszczak will miss out on the trip as both players appear unlikely to be at Old Trafford come August.
Other loan stars Federico Macheda and Mame Biram Diouf will be part of the tour team along with Nani and Dimitar Berbatov despite speculation of a summer move away from the red side of Manchester.
United's tour opener begins with a tricky test against New England Revolution in Boston on Wednesday before heading to Seattle, Chicago, New Jersey and Washington.
