Darwin Núñez / signs for Liverpool

I think this is going to be 80m down the drain for Liverpool. Have you seen his first touch on the ball? It is much worse than Lukaku. He might be a goalmachine in a league like the Portuguese. But his 2nd touch will often be a tackle in PL. Often you also see players who are dominant and score many goals in the Championship, but as soon as they get into the PL, it stops. I think this pretty much will be the same story.

I was very skeptical when we were put in touch with him. So I'm just happy that Liverpool have paid such a high a price.

These situations in the video are from just one season - and in the Portguese league....

You could definitely have made a video of Fernando Torres like that even in seasons where he was banging in worldies at Liverpool.

Great! Hope they win the same amount as trophies with Darwin as they did with Torres.

The thing we need to consider is Liverpool are in a much stronger situation than we are right now. They have a strong team from back to front so even though the amount of money for Nuñez is a risk, if it doesn't work out for them its not the end of the world (at least in terms of how it will impact their season).

We are coming off the back of our worst season in recent memory and realistically we are 6-8 players away from even having a chance to challenge for a title. We are not in the position right now to throw 100 million euros at a striker as we have so many positions where we need to massively upgrade.

Even if Nuñez has a Salah/Mane like impact at Liverpool, we are still right to not go for him at this stage

Given how reluctant we generally are to pay over the odds we must really believe that he's a rare talent to pay such a fee.

Darwin Nunez passed his Liverpool medical after it revealed he's asthmatic. :D

Net spend is back

It's not half as funny as always using Mane's valuation in GBP despite us selling him to a European club but always using Nunez's valuation in Euros.

100m Vs 40m Wow, what a big gap. Amazing. Watching simple people is sucha funny pastime.:lol::lol:

I sometimes used to give 5m after 10 matches because i clicked on the wrong button on CM 01/02

Really not fussed with us missing out on him. We really need to fix our midfield. Would rather our marquee signing with FDJ than Nunez.

Join the club, been happening to us for years, buy a player for a fee, gets reported as wages included and full whack...................enjoying his net spend post. Quick maths

Liverpool getting 40 50m for Mane so actual fee is more 30 40M and they getting 8 year younger replacement. Liverpool do not mess around these days.

Mane is 10 times the player though and a massive part of Liverpools recent success. Strange I don’t see many Liverpool fans being bothered about him leaving it’s a huge loss.

The jury is out on Nunes

They are going in so hard with this because city got haaland. They got to try and stay on a par with them and he’s probably the next best available striker. Not as good as haaland but time will tell. Klopp is pretty good and bringing the best out in players.

I was very worried with Liverpool getting in Diaz. I'm not so concerned with them getting this guy. Reminds me of the Suarez and Carroll swoop.

If they get £40m for Mane, thats good work. Doesn’t make €95m (pretty much guaranteed) or £82m, for Nunez a good price. Same as the Torres/Carroll deals were sh!te when looked at together

Not convinced this is going to be a good buy for them - it will take him time to settle and to adapt his game - however because of the fee paid he is going to be under huge pressure from the off and Salah won’t be happy about a new kid on the block taking the limelight so expect him to be even greedier this season!

I think every sensible United fan would. We literally signed Ronaldo and it didn’t help. What’s signing Nunez going to do?

Massive gamble this. He’s had 1 decent season thus far and is replacing a huge part of Liverpool’s attack in Mane. For context Nunez has 5 more caps than Pallestri who is 2 years younger, he really has come from nowhere to being a 100m player.

Klopp is great at is elevating players so I’m interested to see how he does with Nunez but he’s probably going to have to change the way Liverpool attack he’s a completely different player to what they’re used to.

You just know how different the tone would be if he was joining us instead of Liverpool
With good reason. Liverpool have a track record of justifying their fees. We have a track record of throwing money away.

There is no media bias, just the fruits of each clubs transfer dealings.

With the stuff Bayern is pushing out about Lewa staying - and therefore Bayern maybe not pursuing Mane after all... could this fall through still? Seems to be a domino effect in transfers (along with us buying FDJ to give Barca the money to buy him in the first place).

Considering the holes in our first team, it would've been negligent to spend so much on a striker this summer.

We need to be in the market for a CF next summer though, and you'd hope there are better options on the market then.

I would agree with this.

We drove the price up just to mess with Pool hehe. Hole we get Nkunku

On top of that, regardless of the level he's coming in at he's going to be developed by one of the two best managers in the world.
