De Gea is the only one in our starting XI who had a role in Moyes’s squad, so I’m not sure the motivation is really there. It’d depend on whether we’ve secured top 4 or in contention or entirely out of the race, I suppose. Then again, last time we were in that situation that worked out so well for us.

They were 18th when he took over though, with a record of P11 W2 D3 L6. His league record was P27 W8 D9 L10, so a substantial improvement and would equate to 46 points over a full season. He’s a solid manager and should take them comfortably to mid table with the squad they’ve got.
This happens a lot in other countries. Managers aren't as precious as fans/punters.
