Big Ben Foster
Correctly predicted Portugal to win Euro 2016

Many saw it coming, but most didn't have the balls to admit it.No one could’ve seen such a drop in form coming. You can’t compare Smalling and Jones contracts with De Gea’s. Having said that, dropping him during the season after a couple errors might’ve been the best situation. Initially in his United career, we saw the best of him once he was dropped for a period of time for Lindegaard.
I’m still in the hopeful camp. His poor moments receive 100x footage, even from our own fans, as compared to his good ones. It is now becoming a make or break time for him. Very few players face such a reckoning at this stage of their careers. An outfielders rapid decline can be less notable. Rooney had his defenders for years. Whether he has the mental toughness to ride it out or fold will be seen in the remaining part of this year.
If only the board and the people giving contracts could have access to the genie you have. You don't pay players for past performance, you pay them for expected future performance.
His decline had been evident for a while. You don't need access to a genie to have been concerned at the time with the contract terms we gave him.If only the board and the people giving contracts could have access to the genie you have.
you pay players for their expected future performance, based on their past performance. You don't pay players for past performance, you pay them for expected future performance.
Yes, but when their performances start to wane, you take that into consideration when determining their future trajectory.you pay players for their expected future performance, based on their past performance.
Players have a dip in form, DDG had a dip in form 1st time in 6 years, so no it was not evident. Rashford had a dip in form at the end of last season, he got a big contract and he has been brilliant this season. His decline had been evident for a while. You don't need access to a genie to have been concerned at the time with the contract terms we gave him.
At fecking last!!
Great news as far as I'm concerned
Do you share the same opinion now after he signed this contract in the same season?I just love how every De Gea thread is being bumped now, because ya know you can't vent in the one Player Performance thread?
I think we should have sold him but I hope this stops his dodgy form otherwise we're lumbered for a long time.
Could come back to bite us this. Hopefully he can improve this season and get back to his best.
Most likely will come back to bite us. Should have been sold this summer, and we should have gone for a GK better suited to playing out from the back.
Not as excited as I would have been a year ago. Hopefully doesn't come back and bite us.
In the words of Janet Jackson. What have you done for me lately!!If he single handedly cost us top 4, he has also got us top 4 single handedly in the past.
If DDG had caught the long ranger against Chelsea last season we would have won that game and most certainly had got top four. The only way this would be true would be if every game we lost or dropped points was because of him and without those errors, the 3 points would be guaranteed. I don’t recall that being the case.
He needs to criticised. Every bit is earned. But there’s a difference between criticising and scapegoating. We were awful yesterday and looked like losing without the blunders as well. De Gea was our biggest culprit but he wasn’t the only one.
It better fecking had be when you are playing them over £300k. Are De Gea, Ozil and Sanchez the past paid players in the Prem?Players have a dip in form, DDG had a dip in form 1st time in 6 years, so no it was not evident. Rashford had a dip in form at the end of last season, he got a big contract and he has been brilliant this season.
It isn't always black and white.
De Gea has been terrible for two years, how anyone could dispute this is beyond me.Strange this thread never got bumped during the good performances. Completely forgot it existed.
Why?This has aged well
I remember how we got shot down for this opinion at the time. Goalkeepers never recover from bad form, the writing was on the wall back then.
Only four posters on the first page saw the warning signs. We never learn.
