A YouTube star was escorted off a Delta flight after speaking in Arabic to his mother and friend, according to accounts he posted on social media on Wednesday morning.

Adam Saleh, a 23-year-old YouTube star from New York, posted multiple videos to Twitter and Periscope showing himself being escorted from a plane by Delta flight attendants. Saleh said in the videos that after passengers heard him speaking Arabic, they “felt uncomfortable” and called flight attendants.

Saleh was on a flight from London to New York with his friend Slim Albaher, another YouTube personality, who was also escorted off the plane.

“They kicked us off the plane because a lady, because a lot of people felt uncomfortable,” Saleh said. “Delta Air Lines just kicked us out for speaking Arabic.”

Not Delta, nor the other passengers' proudest moment, they should rightly be ashamed of how they've acted. Just shows what type of society we still live in.

He is right though, it's 2016. Seen as he knows the year, he should know that if you talk on the phone in Arabic on a flight and you look vaguely like the stereotypical Muslim terrorist currently in vogue to a bunch of white people they're going to tense up as all that latent racism builds up inside them and bursts out.

EDIT - leaving the original comment. I got suckered in by it. Which I suppose is the point. The racism point stands though.

Just another moron desperate for views. He's probably already earned a few grand off this one.

Does anyone seriously believe you get thrown off a plane for speaking Arabic? Have none of you ever flown anywhere? This is total nonsense, I don't even need to watch the video. If he got thrown of the plane it certainly wasn't for speaking Arabic. If that was the case, then half the flights out of Heathrow would be throwing people off. I flew from LAX to Heathrow 3 days ago, there were loads of Arabs at the airport. In fact there were loads of people of all nationalities. Amazingly I think airlines are quite used to people speaking in foreign languages and don't throw people off planes for it.

It's staggering how many people on twitter think this isn't the case after watching a blatantly staged and entirely one-sided bit of exhibitionist footage (loads of them probably didn't even watch it before jumping on the band-wagon).

Common sense seems to be a rare skill these days.

Are you watching closely?

And the media. This has been reported exactly as the thread topic in many media outlets. Very irresponsible.

I have no doubt that Muslims (and maybe even Arabic speaking people generally) are treated unfairly in many ways, but parroting fake discrimination doesn't do anything to fix that problem - quite the opposite. Free points for the Trump crowd if anything.

Read the words 'Youtube star' and immediately knew this would be some bullshit prankster who is now lying to garner views.

Does the word Producer suit you better?
I guess the connotations associated with the term YouTuber are not very positive and usually denotes a person who relies solely on YouTube as their main source of income. Usually their content includes misleading titles or thumbnails to their videos, pranks, 'social experiments' and other cheap tricks in order to seek attention. Therefore I find it difficult to take the claims of this guy (Adam) seriously. There are plenty of other 'YouTubers' like him that do a similar thing and quite a few of these have hundreds of thousands of followers as a result.

I didn't mean to come across as snobbish regarding these people, but it would not surprise me at all if this was all just a 'prank' gone wrong or a publicity stunt to get more hits to his social media platforms/ videos.

I just watched some of these videos. To be honest they've just got clickbait titles and he doesn't do anything apart from being immature with his guys. They're just blogs of him travelling away. Saw some on twitter suggesting he kicks off on planes, but that seems far fetched to me.

The one reason why I think he might be hard done is because he's dragged Delta's name through it, gained a whole lot of publicity. It's all good pretending you were in a suitcase for a flight but to drag a big company in a prank?

How is that any different to what producers on more reputable domains do?

Might be worth mentioning that one of the current paths to broadcasting success is through Youtube/Vimeo. This is exactly the kind of person C4 or ITV2 might hire for one of their stupid prank shows.

That's far from an endorsement.

Wasn't meant as one tbf.
You seem to be objecting to @Irrational. looking down his nose at "YouTubers" though, and citing shit TV as being the same kind of thing in the process.

Shit content is shit content, and feckwits like this clown in the OP don't deserve anything more than scorn.
