Demba Ba

He said on Twitter that the bloke going on about MUFC's interest is not his agent.

dembabafoot Demba Ba
Really, I don't know how desperate this "armand doorn" can be to talk like he's my agent!! He's nothing for me. Stop lying and show respect

He's certainly worth keeping an eye on and possibly sussing out, he's been sensational since coming to the Geordies. Just a matter of keeping him fit, I've a fear that if he came he might go all Louis the rou on us and spend a lot of time on the physios office.

Say we did go for him who would that mean is leaving to make way surely Mickey Owen seeing as we have already said we will be keeping Berbajang

Doubt we'd sign this lad due to his dodgy knee. Even at £5 million its potentially a big outlay on wages and after Saha and Hargreaves you'd think the club would have lerarned its lesson.

Can't see Berba staying mind. They'll extend his contract and sell him in the summer. Back to Germany or Russia I reckon.

He was quality at West Ham last season tbf, it's not just since his move to Newcastle that he started playing well; he's got a full twelve months of excellent goalscoring form in the Premier League now and no game seems too big for him. As of right now, I'd happily trade Berbatov for Ba (and I'm a Berbatov fan), as the latter is far more of a threat and has shown to have bags of skill to compliment his brawn and eye for goal. Quality player.

Does anyone actually know why his knees are dodgy? Too many people are assuming it's just a standard recurring knee-injury, it's not. After breaking his leg a surgeon fecked up an operation and one of the pins somehow went into/around his knee as it was being removed. It can be painful but it's not the normal recurring ligament or tendon strains or permanent cartilage damage, the problem is it's supposed a degenerative condition. I'm no knee-surgeon though so this could all be wrong.

I could imagine him playing for a few years without any trouble - physically he's not going downhill yet as a 26 year-old which should keep him fit for a good while.

He reminds me of Saha to be honest. I hope that he doesn't like the treatment room as much as he did. The guy has a minimum fee clause so I can see him joining us especially if Berba leaves.

He's been fit for almost 2 seasons so I doubt his knee is still dodgy...

And the if he does leave the PL, I think he's heading for PSG.

Worth 5m, I'd sell Diouf and won't extend Owen's contract for Ba....

Ba Berbs Roon Welbeck Hernandez... Me likes.

He only played a handful of games last season for West Ham - was signed in Jan but was injured at the time, and before that had spent a good period injured with Hoffenheim.

Also failed medicals at Stoke and Stuttgart due to his knee - apprently (according to the Web) damage was caused after a screw was removed from his leg after a bad injury whileplaying in Belgium meaning that it can flare up at any time and will continue to deteriorate.

Id agree we probably won't sign him but I'm sure they will keep their eyes on any player who is performing to really high standards within the league.

The injury issue could change aswel look at how some players respond to very different forms of rehab it's all about working out what that players body requires.

Berba definitely still has some sell on value alright if he went I'd be a bit heart broken I do like the fella

Knowing our luck with injuries, he's probably only play for 5 minutes before doing his knee and be on the treatment table for 6 months

I believe Fergie avoids signing African players to avoid the disruption of losing them mid-season.

I don't buy into that theory, it seems like a hollow conclusion from some corners of the media to me, but maybe I am ignorant to a SAF statement...

Didn't we intentionally sign Mikel?

Gave Essien a trial?

He only said that African players are disadvantaged due to the African cup fixtures and he's right about it all along. That doesn't mean that he would turn down a decent African player if he had to meet one. He's not a Suarez after all.....:D:D:D:D

Can't believe we're forgetting the great Djemba twins. Then there was Fortune, Manucho.

We dont need a bloody striker, we have some of the best in the business needing a decent midfield behind them.

I agree. However if its true that Ba has a minimum clause of around 10m then he's worth to buy especially if Berba is going to leave. Ba, Rooney, Hernandez and Welbeck will make sure to sort us upfront for the next decade and considering that Berba would bring to the club at least 15m then we may well end up making profit out of it.

Berba will leave for much less than 15m; "the clause" hasn't been activated.

No way Berba is worth £15m anyway unless we got lucky with a club like PSG or Berba decided he just wants to end his career for £££ in Dubai or something.

Newcastle took a chance on him. It would be nice if he gave them at least a couple of seasons.

Looks a damn good forward, though.

I really don't want us to sign a striker.

Yet I can't help wanting to sign Ba.

Like, Rooney is the engine of the team, Welbeck is going to be amazing for years to come, Hernandez is probably the best goal poacher in the world and I have a weird attachment to Berbatov and would be sad to see him go since he oozes class that I don't think we've had the opportunity to fully see yet.

So, logically, we're so sorted up front it's ridiculous to contemplate spending money on a striker, even if he is available for 10million.

And yet still, I'd be quite happy if we signed him.

That goal he finished against us was brilliant too.
