Does Tuchel’s success at Chelsea show we should have sacked Solksjaer?

I mean , mentioning "elite level" should be enough of a hint for the type of the thread , but apparently it's still hard

Calm down OP. You're a few weeks too early. They haven't actually won anything yet. Pundits were already writing the eulogies for Citeh's quadruple. 2 of those might be gone in a couple of weeks.

Chelsea removed a good/average manager and replaced him with an elite level manager and are now reaping the rewards. Chelsea will be City’s main challengers next year because they took proactive steps to become challengers again. I worry we’ve missed a trick by not doing the same.
I'm in total agreement, Tuchel defensively has been simply outstanding as a coach, we defo missed out. If they get Haaland or Kane next year their serious challengers to city's crown.

Ole has improved United but doubt he can take us to the next level of Klopp & Pep.

What success?

Coming 2 weeks after a 5-2 battering at home to west Brom this thread feels very misplaced
Missed place? Your having a laugh  Don't judge him on 90 mins but more like since he took over chavs. Granted he's won nothing but you just can't help but be impressed from what he's done so far.

He looks the type that will lose the dressing room soon enough.

cnut like Maureen.
Probably more Conte than Mourinho. Will win a trophy or two but yeah, fallouts will definitely occur at some point — just not near as toxic as the specialist in failure.

Lampard was a good manager?
@Withnail This was another bit that had me confused. On one hand I was thinking ‘surely no one believes this anymore’, but on the other ‘well many people genuinely thought Lampard was better than Ole up to the point he got sacked, even though by that point we were 2nd and Chelsea’.

But yes, definitely, Lampard is not a good manager  No chance.

I'm pretty sure if we'd get Haaland or Kane, we'd be serious title challengers.
One could argue that we are title challengers as of right now.

That happens. City just lost to leeds with 10 men at home. But the stats speak for themselves only 2 losses since he come one in the second leg of a tie we went through in. A cl semi final an fa cup final and well on course to finish in the top 4.
and how many losses does OGS have since Tuchel came in?

Oles alright and better than lampard but our ceiling is a bit capped with him imo. Was always obvious that whenever Chelsea smartened up that they would improve.

There is a difference in ambition between us and Chelsea, they are about winning trophies and playing good football and if a manager looks like he can't produce that he's out, where as at united as long the manager can get top 4 then he's good enough.

No, they have looked awful at times and he won’t be there in 18 months anyway. As much as I would like a top coach at United, I would prefer to avoid the merry-go-round.

He is nothing special

I'm not the biggest fan as Ole as manager but at this point with this squad, to be 2nd in the league and in the semi-final of the Europa, how much better could someone else be doing?
Not getting eliminated in the Champions League group stage would have been nice.

No because a Tuchel will stick around for 3 years max, will flood the team with foreign signings and show more faith in them than academy talent, and will only have a 3 year plan, and by the time he leaves around half the squad will only be there for the money.

An Ole will have a 10 year plan, will do everything he can to develop local talent, will only buy foreign players if it's absolutely necessary, and by the time he leaves will hopefully leave a squad full of players who are there for the thrill of playing for Man Utd.

The Ole way is best for the long term health of Man Utd. Chelsea are a sugar daddy club who go through staff far quicker than is necessary.

Man Utd always do best with careful long term planning. We've seen so many great young players who were written off as soon as they broke through, only to become stars with patience. Compare that to Chelsea who didn't have patience for the likes of De Bruyne and Salah due to endless quick fix managers like Mourinho, and paid a heavy price.

Already we are seeing the benefits of Ole long term planning with Greenwood and McTominay becoming key players, with Garner, Diallo and Mejbri hopefully to follow soon.

Surely our own travails under two managers who were both regarded as 'elite' until they came here and didn't succeed is proof enough that we should not.

An 'elite' manager is just a manager who is currently winning or has recently won big trophies with a big club. Mourinho was still regarded as an elite manager when he came to us, and then he failed to live up to that reputation, and was no longer regarded as an elite manager. Before PSG, Tuchel was not yet regarded as an elite manager. Then he went to PSG and (some would argue inevitably, given the league) won some big trophies, and now he's 'elite'. If Solskjaer wins the league with us next season, he will probably then be regarded as an elite manager too. It's a descriptive category, not an actual inherent quality.

Im not saying he isn't doing a good job. Massively premature to say we should have sacked our manager on the basis of 3 months or so

Since when is Tuchel an elite level manager? And Solskjaer's football is much easier on the eye.

Even Conte's Chelsea were more entertaining
