Figured this warranted its own thread for easy reference. Trial starts tomorrow. Hopefully there will be some fireworks. No cameras or audio recording devices allowed unfortunately...

Fox will have to pay about three bucks and that will be the end of it.

Rupert is with 17.5 billion so whatever the verdict, I can't see it putting Fox out of business. Best case scenario is he cans Hannity, Pirro, and a few others and modulates the evening lineup to be less propagandist.

If indeed it tampers with the election, no matter left or right big or small, and it ended up with being settled, then it really is a democracy being bought by money
That’s the smallest if ever. Of course American democracy is for sale. Always been that way. I honestly believe the US shouldn’t be called a democracy anyway.

I wouldn’t even go that far. Best case is he cans some guys because they lost him money. Than we can laugh about them being fired, while at the very same time their jobs go to someone just as bad as them or even worse.

If Murdoch was smart he would try to hire Cuomo, who is doing a pretty good job at Newsnation. This would make his evening lineup more balanced than the usual clown car propaganda from Hannity and Tucker.

Why in the world would he want balance? Balance is the one thing he’s been trying to destroy all his life.

In this case, he may be forced to make some changes after the lawsuit. As in, if he loses, he may try to plea his way out of a worse financial settlement by pledging personnel and programming "changes" at the network.

Might be. But I strongly believe there is no legal language that can in any way shape or form force him to actually create balance. Who’s going to supervise this? How would anyone actually proof that he didn’t uphold his part of the bargain?

The stuff that's come out already is so funny. The text messages of all the hosts basically admitting what they peddle is complete bullshit.

Absolutely shameless. Hearing they're trying to settle out of court last minute.

Really wished it was going to be broadcast live. If there's ever a lawsuit to have cameras in the courtroom, it's this one.

It wouldn’t get aired in conservative media so it wouldn’t matter anyway.

I long thought it was crazy Fox didn't try harder to settle this. The stuff that has already come out is bad enough. And they are taking a wild gamble it seems that the bar to prove "actual malice" is so high that Dominion would lose. But, just from what we have already seen come out I would say its already proven.

The judge sanctioning them last week, basically accusing them of lying by Omission in discovery. Fox having to apologize to the judge and say it was a "misunderstanding". Not to mention the idea of Rupert's and all the Fox Talking heads potentially having to take the stand this week and get grilled on how they lie to viewers and privately thought the stuff they put on the air is bs.

Fox viewers wont care anyway if they settle. They don't care that they are lied too their ratings still stay high. They could just squash this pay up offer the "full throated apology" Dominion demands from any settlement. The Fox viewers still wont care if Tucker/Hannity is made to apologize on air and say they lied.

The chances of this dispute being settled are still very high. And it'll be VERY expensive for Fox news. But they have far more to loose if this trial moves forward as it'll be obvious to any of their vewiers that they just treat them like morons.

But boy do I pray that Dominion doesn't settle and go all the way, it'll be glorious.

You know what, sure, why not. We are definitely living in an absurd time.

— Season 20's "Treehouse of Horror XIX" shows him attempting to cast a ballot for Barack Obama.

— The promotional short "Homer Votes 2012" shows him voting for Mitt Romney.

— The YouTube short "Homer Votes 2016" features Russian President Vladimir Putin disguising himself as an American voter and trying to convince Homer to vote for Trump.

— Season 32's "Treehouse of Horror XXXI" finds Homer unsure whether to vote for Trump or Biden.

All from bad seasons. That should make it inadmissible.

This seems to suggest they will try to do a no reasonable person would say these clips are the network telling you to do anything. IE vote for Obama, trick Homer into voting for Trump. Its just entertainment. No one can claim they were harmed from these clips. Try and rope that around to saying they aren't responsible either for defaming Dominion.

To be completely honest, the type of people that eat up the stuff that fox news and these lot broadcast don't seem like they'll care if they're perceived as morons by the network once they continue to broadcast stuff that feeds into their prejudices and such.

I'd be shocked if Fox is required to make any admission of guilt as that would make their defense against Smartmatics lawsuit almost impossible. Likely settle both for an obscene amount of money and zero coverage on Fox itself.

Pretty good outcome imo.

One of the lawyers from Dominion just suggested they're not done yet, which means the likes of Giuliani, Powell and others are probably still on the hook.

And they won't have much incentives to settle in these cases considering that it'd be ridiculous consdering what they got from fox.

Fox probably had a lot of nasty stuffs to hide to pay close to 800M to settle this case...
