Which goes against what Ole said earlier in the year about the team not being fit enough and him wanting a proper pre-season.

I'll say it again. I can't remember a window where so much talent has been seemingly prepared to move or where so many would improve us.

We're into pre season with James and bissaka. What the feck have we been doing since March

And who are we going to buy in the end?

Nope, nobody newly scouted. Harry Maguire for almost 80 million...after vetoing our previous manager's attempt to sign him for 60 million just the last summer...

... It is absolutely unbelievable how this fecking joke of an executive has been allowed to run this club into the ground with absolutely all the power and no oversight.

He hired those managers didn´t he?
Plus he gave Moyes nothing and then gave LVG all the mediocre players he could find. Then he gave Mourinho a new deal but no defenders.
And for the second summer running he is failing in our hunt for a CB. Squad full of mediocre talents and youth with no grit and leadership is a mirror image of how the club is being run.
Changing out managers wont fix this.

Surely one of the major issues is the snail like negotiations that take place as the club enters into signing any player. There seems to be an attempt to prove how smart and tough they are as every attempt is made to bring down the price, even if it is a release clause.

It must really irritate the selling club, and that coupled with the unwillingness to move our own players is really infuriating to supporters, who basically want movement after such a dismal end of the year and an acceptance that the club needs to improve their roster. All in all that lies at the feet of Teflon Ed and Judge, who currently seem willing to fail Club Building 101.

I think he knew what he was getting himself into when he signed.Hes an ex player and a fan so has plenty of close connections to the club.

He may or may not have. But as a fan he is hurting as much as the rest of us. From what I've read he was on working targets a long time ago and I think by him saying that he wanted all transfer dealings done before we went on tour. I think he was give some sort of assurance by Woody this would happen. But I may be wrong mate.

If Pogba is sold for a profit, the money will end up in the club's coffers and eventually end up in the the Glazers' pockets. Remember when Ronaldo was sold for £80M and we spent a small fraction of that money, on players? Gullible fans were convinced that at some stage, that money would be reinvested, but that never happened.

I for one, have observed how things work within our club and can honestly say that while Woodward is our DoF, we won't win the league. If he stays here for the next 10 years, that we won't win for 10 years. His aim is top 4, while spending as little money as possible.

Absolutely, especially in this day and age where the manager is turning more and more into «just» a head coach.

The conundrum being that Woodward is an extended branch of the Glazers. I can't see how you can get rid of one without the other. Look at Tampa Bay who have have a similar setup over there. Jason Licht is their Ed Woodward. Everything you can write about us, wouldn't look out of place written about them. If you haven't, read up a bit on them.

So you might as well change it to whilst the Glazers are here, we are not going to compete any time soon.

Until we get new owners, we're really just wasting everyone's time.

Good post mate. It basically sums up everything that I have been thinking. That is the reason why I would want to take players in exchange rather than cash because at least then I know it is not lining the Glazer's pockets. I agree particularly with the part in bold and that is something seriously concerns me. I am sick of us just aiming for fecking top 4.

We are United we have the resources although Woody and the Glazer's are reluctant to spend them, we should be aiming to compete for the top trophies. Maybe if we keep continually aiming for fourth and not competing for the top trophies it may hit the share price or concern our sponsors and this may tempt the Glazer's to sell, although I doubt it as I fear they are in for the long term as I read something about a new TV deal involving the USA being negotiated in the next few years.

If they do I hope sell I really hope it is to someone who doesn't have a shady background and is willing to invest a decent amount of money wisely to get us competing for the top honours again but it will be hard to find that type of owner and when they go, hopefully soon, they can take Woody with them.

Nope. Was the Man Utd squad in the the 90's laid at Duncan Edwards feet? no it wasn't. everyone said Fergie is great because he built winning squads across 3 different decades, not the CEO.

He messed up hiring Moyes in the 1st place and indeed got him Mata and Fellaini which were not sufficient. Van Gaal got players on his own list and pretty much admitted this in his latest interview. You think Ed chose Di Maria, Falcao, Blind, Herrera, Depay, Schneirderlin, Bastian and Co? these are Van Gaal signings, and many have worked with Louis in the past. Van Gaal gave us all the mediocre players he could find and spent dumb money doing it, whilst our rivals were snatching bargains.
The Jose thing was dumb as we should have obviously spent more than 80 million but at the same time, Jose too spent loads on dross so I would say he should have NEVER extended his contract.
Is that what Peter Moore does at Liverpool FC?

This is the thing, fans saying sell Pogba and Lukaku for X amount and then by this player and that player but will this really happen? You’d like to think that would be the sensible thing to do but we’re talking about Ed Woodward and more importantly the Glazers. They might just be thinking of “milking the assets”

Having a dof that trust the manager and give him money to spend has its own pro and cons.

This time it doesnt work because he hired a bad manager. But if he gets another saf and the dof has a different vision the result would be bad as well.

Whether it's dof/manager/ceo deciding on which player to buy it all comes back to the eye of the judges. What if the dof made the wrong call? There's no bad system, only bad employee

Hope this guy has ability to self reflection. Step down and dont need and wait the owner to tell to focus only on the marketing and business side of the club/company.

The football side is clearly need to run by a person who understand football.

But it take a big big man to admit his mistake and reduce knowledge about the football side. And most of us human dont want to loose face. If he does and can admit and accept his weakness, the football side part of the club. He would be one of two peoples that deserve most respect.
One that can admit and accept his mistake.
The other is the one who has done a bad thing/mistake.
Only those two group of peoples deserve true respect. If we all are just ordinary human. Do not belong to the respectful peoples on earth.
You can be rich, famous and earn a lot of money. But if you cant win over your ego, yourself. You havent win the hardest fight ever on earth.

This self reflection and self evaluation is big big personally test for mr.Woodward. Is when we human meet the wall, we might accept it and change our life, perspective and things.

I agree. If we hired a manager who just bought the right players there would be no drama. Jose and Van Gaal are the main culprits esp Jose. When I think of his wastage. Matic 40m Lukaku 74m+ Pogba 90m Miki 29m Sanchez Fred 50mill Bailly 35m.

You are spot on. Lots of talk,no action,it is the same as the last two seasons. If we do not make any signings soon,we will not finish in the top 6 next season.

I think he cannot buy anyone until he sells Pogba etc.If these sales do not happen until last 2 weeks of transfer season,we will have no time to buy anyone.

I 100% believe Ed is out of his depth and shouldn’t be making all of the footballing decisions at the club. But it’s the Glazers that hold the purse strings and this summer has once again shown that we are working to a very restrictive budget.

I believe all ed does is chosing the manager. No way he's barging in there and instruct coaches on how to play, whose to buy, which players to extend etc.

He has his failing, but i dont think the football side of our predicament is all down to him.

Two seasons in a row now this lot have inadequately backed the manager properly, last year we had a great chance to build on finishing 2nd the previous season but didnt and now we need a rebuild like Real Madrid has shown and are yet again letting the manager down, I just hope that if things go pear shaped at the club at the start of next season in terms of results the fans direct 100% of their anger/frustration towards the board and not a specific player they seem "lazy" or Ole even if he is out of his depth as he wasnt the one to self appoint himself as United manager.

I feel it's gotta be Ed making the offers for players.
No way the Glazers do it. They're just background owners who look at the balance and nothing more.

Imagine them negotiating with the likes of Real and Juve

I'd be shocked if the owners do keep the money away from us this summer though. Old Trafford would erupt.
Bad football, bad players and a lack of investment for the second year running

Absolutely but he is responsible for the structure that has led to these failures. It was his decision to empower these managers. Post Moyes, it was his decision to hire two polar opposite managers in terms of philosophy and squad needs. I have defended him until very recently but he has to carry the can here. And we are looking like making the same mistake again.

No it isn't his job!

That would be the job of a DoF (if we had one, we don't...yet) or the manager.

Might want to read up on the job spec of a CEO.

So what is Ed's job, do tell? He's allowed the club to spend nearly a billion pounds with no plan and won't hire a DOF.

And if he didn't spend the money... you'd complain about that too.

We've interviewed for a DoF as well, it might happen..it might not.

Thanks for taking part on blogs Ed, but shouldn't you be working on completing some transfers currently , perhaps you are on holidays again and filling in time while around the pool.
