Looking forward to seeing him officially step down as our Chief Executive Officer and become our Head Administrative Commissioner instead

So he is negotiating with himself for another role? Probably give himself a nice payrise to go with it. This club will not make any progress, the only thing they are good at is continuously rewarding failure.

Arnold is just his puppet. There was never really going to be any change. Woodie is still at the wheel.

It's pretty common for departing executives to stay on in a consulting capacity for some time, as needed. Nothing to see here.

Woodward doing a public masterclass on all of us on how high-level relationships work - you never really leave, you just change roles to what looks best PR-wise. Politics, consulting, banking, it's all the same shite.

Watch Succession for a great depiction how the world of multi-billionaires and those adjacent to them functions.

Must be tough giving up £3m+ a year salary, especially with the cost's of buying new fences every other week.

This club is dead. The chance was there to get change and the fans got thrown Ronaldo to shut them up. It worked, and they're laughing all the way to the bank. The directors are all responsible for our the sad state we are in and will continue to be in for decades to come, and I include the ones that have statues and stands named after them.

None of the directors are football people.

From the Mike Keegan article.

"Insiders say it is commonplace when chief executives leave a company to strike an agreement which allows the firm to call upon their knowledge if required. Should Woodward take a role, it is likely that it would be on that basis, rather than a position that would see him working extensively at the club on an ongoing basis"

Pity they never used Gill for advice when Ed was playing Football Manager when he took over.

Ed Woodward is the worst thing to have happened to the club in the Premier League era.

Ajax has literally everything we need to get back to the top, please can the Glazers not mess this up. Basically do what City did with the former Barca hierarchy. Hire em all!

I have such low expectations for this front office - we're getting Brenda and Woodward will still be around long after his expiration date. God help us.

What knowledge though??

Besides, if it is going to be only on need basis, then there is no need to pay him to be on standby, just in case.

The revenue that's been stagnant since 2015? He's not even good at that.
I was thinking more of the debt and that finance side of the club. That's what they really need him for, otherwise he would have been sacked years ago for running a football club.

Feels like he was never leaving the glazers, just the usual immediate PR after the superleague fallout

He was never going to leave.

He was just the temporary sacrificial lamb for the European Super League debacle. Announcing he was leaving immediately delighted everyone, took all the heat off, the Glazers had a big laugh behind-closed-doors, and then he just stayed on forever anyway.
