England Cricket Summer 17 - South Africa & West Indies

Another random point about our Jimmy. He was genuinely quick when he started. I find it quite interesting that he intentionally gave up pace at quite a young age - much younger than most do - in favour of accuracy.

Every time Anderson passes some landmark I remember when we forced him to change his action and I'm very pleased he quickly got fed up enough to ignore the experts and just bowl like he wanted. If he'd carried on with the remodeled one he would've been a very average county cricketer.

I remember his world cup debut I think when he played well against Pakistan and thinking woah what a find.. must admit I lost faith in him during all the remodelling issues but he has surpassed all expectations with his career.

Bright talent who was threatening to be mediocre and went on to battle his way to an extraordinary career. Simon Jones if he stayed fit was also an exceptional English talent.

I used to love him because of his silly red hair as a kid.

Now I just love him.

I went to a test, I think at Old Trafford, during the remodeled period and he was all over the place. It was thoroughly frustrating to watch, given, as you say, we all saw how good he could be when he first burst on to the scene.

Jones was a sad one! He was as good as any quick going, I think, when his never ending injuries started.

I did like the hair. I liked quite a lot of things about younger Jimmy...

I remember when he first came through with that ridiculous red streak through his hair .

In a similar way to Steyn, who also seemed like a crap speed merchant when starting his career, they've become, in my opinion, the two best fast bowlers over the last 10 years.

last 10 years?

They're both amongst the greatest of all time.

Am I alone in getting annoyed by Broad celebrating rather than appealing for LBW's when he thinks they're obvious? Is it unreasonable to request he bothers to turn round?

One of the reasons I despise Broad is because of that particular show of arrogance.

Well done Anderson, fantastic achievement

Steyns in the top 5. In my book he's the best ever.

Not sure I'd go best ever, but I think Steyn is fairly uncontroversially in the top 5 yeah.

Anderson's top 10 for me, but the arguments against that are pretty well known.

I remember when he was an ODI specialist  That NZ tour of 2007/08 turned out pretty well for English cricket - both Broad and Anderson nailed their spots then, and didn't let go.

'Umpire Erasmus isn't giving him anything'

It's missing leg by a mile, is he supposed to give it out just for the sake of it?

Jimmy is a god. One of England's greatest ever sportspeople.

Does anyone not think that the Aussies will thrash us? We have 3 major issues in the batting line-up and no bowlers who will do well in Australia. I think Australia have to be a great bet to win the series at 8/13.

Dunno, their quicks are all made of glass. If we're lucky and Starc, Pattinson and Cummins are all injured then we might only lose 4-1.

Have a look out for Evin Lewis. He's an incredible hitter.

Narine is brilliant. Very good performance from the Windies.

Getting all out in a T20. Embarrassing. Plunkett and Jordan will surely get out in the next two overs.

Wait. Is it embarrassing? I mean you're chasing against the World Champions, at some point once your main batsman are out and you're chasing over 12 an over it's a bit difficult to keep any wickets unless you just bat it out.
