That's the spirit. Maybe we should give the English teams a league of their own, even! Why not 6 spots? It would be unfair that the top 6 can't qualify.
Or
Probably 7 spots because it would be unfair that clubs outside the top 6 can never get into CL because the places are always trusted by the top 6.
It should be the top 13 so we can finally see how Messi would fare on a cold and windy Tuesday in Stoke City. Why not 6 spots? It would be unfair that the top 6 can't qualify.
Or
Probably 7 spots because it would be unfair that clubs outside the top 6 can never get into CL because the places are always trusted by the top 6.
Sounds about right.Wondering if the op is a secret Arsenal supporter who is upset that they will be in Europa.
Spain have three great teams, that take up three of their spots. Imagine being a "middle CL" level team, stuck in the Spanish League, or imagine there being 5 "middle CL" teams. They would all be fighting for 1 spot.. but only 1 can get in at the moment. Spain have 3 giants blocking the route for the rest.Out of interest, how did you come to these numbers?
Surely an attention-seeking troll? It's been a while since I put someone on ignore..I really looks like he changed the dealer lately
Spain are 2x as good as us, 2x3=6.Out of interest, how did you come to these numbers?
that's great.I really looks like he changed the dealer lately
Agreed.I personally think that United and Real Madrid should directly qualify for the Semi finals, financially they are bound to reach it at some point anyway.
Exactly /threadNo. English clubs fail year after year in CL, don't see any reason why we deserve to get another place.
It's atrocious that a single league can send 4 teams to the CL.England receiving an extra spot in the CL is laughable. No country should get that honor unless one of its teams has qualified via the Europa League. But for England to be awarded an extra slot when its clubs have been atrocious in the competition for six years or so is madness.
Fine. When that happens, make this thread, and it will seem less insane.Dudes concentrating on the performance of English teams over the past few years are missing the point.
It might be this year, it might be next but soon English teams will dominate the latter stages of the CL again.
History will tell you that money talks in the end and the PL is swimming in it.
100%, Uefa will never have the balls because of money reasons but the CL should be for champions. This is what happens when non-champions get too big for their britches.
I'm more in favor of kicking non champions out, and restricting participation to league champions and defending CL winners only.
Is that You, Arsene? The top 5 clubs in England should qualify for the CL.
I think it's unfair that two of Utd, City, Chelsea, Arsenal, Spurs and Liverpool will miss out every year (bar the EL is won)
I don't think Spain or Germany deserve to have the same number of CL spots given their comparatively less number of powerful clubs.
I think that's fine so long as the coefficient system was in place, as no league was guaranteed to keep their spots if they performed bad on aggregate. I'm not a fan of this new system where coefficient is irrelevant and the big leagues monopolize the tournament. It's atrocious that a single league can send 4 teams to the CL.
I would cap the number at 2, and distribute the extra spaces down the chain. Allows for a more equitable distribution of resources around Europe, instead of the money pooling in 4 leagues.I think that's fine so long as the coefficient system was in place, as no league was guaranteed to keep their spots if they performed bad on aggregate. I'm not a fan of this new system where coefficient is irrelevant and the big leagues monopolize the tournament.
Cheers for clarifying mate, not sure I agree but I get where you're coming from.Spain have three great teams, that take up three of their spots. Imagine being a "middle CL" level team, stuck in the Spanish League, or imagine there being 5 "middle CL" teams. They would all be fighting for 1 spot.. but only 1 can get in at the moment. Spain have 3 giants blocking the route for the rest.
Likewise, Italy have 1 giant, Germany 1 giant, France and England have no giants at the moment.
So if we forget the "Giants", who you know are going to qualify, we have currently:
Spain - 1 spot
Germany - 3 spots
Italy - 3 spots
France - 3 spots
England - 4 spots
England need to lose 1, Spain gain 2
Spain are 2x as good as us, 2x3=6.
So the smokers wants PL to have 5 teams in the CLIt's not daft. I would welcome it, plus the return of Cup Winners Cup and UEFA Cup (1 club - 2 at most from each country).
No. Please re-check what I quoted. Back to around 1996-ish is what I would like.So the smokers wants PL to have 5 teams in the CL
My thinking, too. I'd prefer it to just go back to the actual champions of leagues.Hate the fact that it's 4. It should be just champions. Change the name to top 4 league.
After 1 season you'd want the current format back. Nobody wants to watch Bayern and Real Madrid walk their way to the final by beating the champions of Finland and Belarus. My thinking, too. I'd prefer it to just go back to the actual champions of leagues.
