Legia Warsaw please.
Winning Europa League is way more important than winning FA Cup because it's the only way we can get to Champions League and avoid losing a big sum of money. An easy one please. After the first leg we have the 5th round of the FA Cup and, truth be told, it's one of our best chances to win some silverware. And the FA Cup draws haven't been kind to us with the exception of last year, of course. After the second leg we go to the Etihad and my guess is that we will still be chasing top four. Add to that the fact that City will have no midweek game that week while we already know we will play away the return leg.
But the bigger fish could go out to someone else. It doesn't have to be us knocking them out, let someone else deal with them.Because I'd rather the bigger fish are out and we go through. This isn't the FA Cup. This is a potential way of getting UCL football again, if we go out early to a big team then fine, we move on, no more Thursday games. We can then put all our eggs in 1 basket and that will be in the league and go all out for top 4.
I don't think we'll be that far off fourth place by the end of February, as some suggest, in a way that we will just start throwing the league games away. Besides, as a United fan, this is something i'd never like to see from a United team.Winning Europa League is way more important than winning FA Cup because it's the only way we can get to Champions League and avoid losing a big sum of money.
Besides we are two wins away from winning League Cup so THAT is our best chance at the trophy.
Yeah I think it would be helpful for you not to have to travel too far - especially if you don't have a good advantage from the home leg. Our situation last year was a bit different - ahead of the EFL final against City we had a home tie against Augsburg. We did play a full strength team tho as it was 0-0 in the first leg.Still would like an easy tie then. Wouldn't fancy playing what could be our only cup final this year not in the best of conditions. That's if we beat hull...
Mate, at this rate the chance of us getting top 4 in EPL as slim as winning europa league(also meaning a secured spot in UCL next year plus a trophy).I know it's a bit of a shitty attitude and I said differently before but by now I would really go with just playing backup players in the EL and League Cup games. Especially our best players should be rested in those games so they are up for 90 minutes of PL and FA cup once it starts.
Also I would expect a team full of fringe players to still do good in those competitions. It needs to be made clear to them that this is their chance to impress for a starting spot in the league and if they constantly fail to impress their time at the club will be over sooner than later. Also give the youngsters a chance to show what they got but don't weaken our best players for PL games.
Disagree with you buddy, as much as people say top 4 is over... a run of wins and who knows where we will be at, only takes any of those teams to drop points and we have to lay them all still. But the bigger fish could go out to someone else. It doesn't have to be us knocking them out, let someone else deal with them.
Winning the Europa League is a better bet for us getting Champions League football than finishing in the top 4.
Yes, good point. Might even get a better date to visit the Etihad. We may actually have the EFL cup final that weekend.
Ahh ok, thanks. They used to do that but not anymore. Monday will be R32 draw only, R16 will be in Feb, after conclusion of R32.
Thanks, updated OP.By the way, Genk beat Sassuolo today in the re-arranged game and so Genk finished first, Bilbao second. So we can't play Bilbao in the next round. Thankful to be spared the likes of Aduriz and Iñaki.
The thought of Aduriz getting on the end of crosses against our defence is frightening. He is one of the best headers of a ball in football. Williams is as fast as hell and Benat can take a mean freekick.By the way, Genk beat Sassuolo today in the re-arranged game and so Genk finished first, Bilbao second. Teams to avoid:I'm hoping for anyone but Shakhtar Donetsk, who I think could be favourites for the competition.
Would rather avoid trips to Besiktas and Zenit too. I think we would come out victorious, but we could do without the travelling and cold conditions.
Copenhagen or Sparta Prague would do nicely.
I saw them lose to Shamrock Rovers over two legs no more than five years ago. They may have improved, but not by that much that I'd be worried about them over two legs.People seriously underestimating Copenhagen. One of the best teams outside of the big leagues and usual competitive teams (Shakhtar, Zenit et al).
We just did that yesterday! One of the teams from the CL please!
I want to play, and beat, a team that was in the CL.
(PS: what time is this on and what channel? UK)
Where were you yesterday? One of the teams from the CL please!

In Europe, you crackheadsWhere were you yesterday?
So what you're saying is, in terms of quality, Copenhagen come somewhere behind Fiorentina, Schalke, Shakhtar, Roma, Zenit and Lyon... and they would be among the shortest travel distances available. Pretty clear why everyone wants them then?People seriously underestimating Copenhagen. One of the best teams outside of the big leagues and usual competitive teams (Shakhtar, Zenit et al).
Brexit hasn't kicked in yet, has it?In Europe, you crackheads
The Mirror says it's after the CL draw, which you can watch here:When is the draw?
Thanks. No way I'm going to watch through that. The Mirror says it's after the CL draw, which you can watch here:

But I'm honestly not sure.
Does it really make a difference to the players whether they travel for 2 or 3 hours to the game? The shorter the trip for the away fixture the happier Ill be, not that fussed about the quality of the opposition.
Hard to say for sure but yes, it does seem to.Does it really make a difference to the players whether they travel for 2 or 3 hours to the game?
