I think today is more about the fact that Amrabat and McT struggle to progress the ball- they have similar attributes. With Eriksen, Casemiro and Mount being out Mainoo is the only option to do that

Why is Mount out again. Goodness me. What a terrible start he has had.

Im actually pleased to see mainoo given a chance however it suggests ETH does not fancy Amrabat, his £8mil plus loan fee looks like it wont turn into a full transfer.
Not starting Amrabat to everton away where its going to be a physical game...

Is he trying to get fired?

Rashford will come good, awful this season but it'll click.

McTominay makes sense, today's going to be a fight so need his physicality.
I think McTominay has too much to do with handling himself, how is he supposed to be a good partner for Mainoo in his first start... :( I mean, that applies to more or less any midfielder we have but still.

Same as Maguire. Ten Hag's man management is crazy shit. One day you are at bottom in packing order and next day you are nailed first teamer.
So he has no personal bias and pick his team based on form and whether they'd listen to and follow his intructions or how they'd do in training?

McT and Maguire are still here because the club wanted a couple millions more. Now they're his players isn't his job to make the best out of his squad?

Seen this story before and it only ends one way. When you leave top players out, questions will be asked amongst the senior pros in the dressing room.

Glad Shaw is back. Hope he’s not too rusty. Also happy to get a good look at Mainoo. Hoping Everton go for crapping the bed rather than being galvanised by the penalty.

I agree with that. Don't think McTominay is the ideal partner and also not the ideal fixture to throw Mainoo in. But trust ETH so hopefully a result.

Shaw is back! Which is great. Think he will be huge for our build up play. Mainoo starts is a huge call. Not very many center mids on the bench or really nay options at all.

Why would you leave out your best fit CB because one of your other CB's is injured? Unless you were just trying to get sacked for a laugh.

Would you leave Vidic out because Rio was injured?

He won’t but football is not the same as back then, and Ten Hag is a bit idiosyncratic like that

What do you mean why? They are shite. Yes we are not in top form but we still have to win this without a doubt.
What dyou mean they are shite?
They've been riding a wave of good games and today they'll be riding sympathy towards them because of the 10 point deduction.
And we're still full of injuries.

So Rashford at 10 and Bruno on the right? It can't be so simple as to be the reverse.

Feels like we're throwing Mainoo under the bus putting him in with McTom from the start. He's going to have to get on the ball a lot.

Sink or swim. Good luck, Mainoo

But that’s exactly what he is expected to do - getting on the ball is probably the single most important parts of the job we need a player in his position to handle

Fecking stupid you mean. Liverpool play VVD and Matip together who are both right footed, City play Stones and Akanji together who are both right footed, yet we've got some bullshit made up system that's on par with picking players based on their star signs.

I'm not worried about him on the ball so much, but Everton quite like to chuck it at Doucoure in the 10, which demands a lot of very physical defending from the DM.

If only we had it in us to comfortably sit deep and let them run their 10 point deduction steam of before we break them on the counter, then we had a chance. I just don’t see our shaky defence and midfield see it through.

Media is going to be unbearable during the game, not hiding, fully behind Everton who have been wronged and desperate for them to take down big bad Man United..

Is this Shaw back properly or a one off to get us out a jam? Because I read that he isn't playing because of doctors advice not injury.

The crowd will be up for it, so it's important for us to play them out of the game in the first 10-15 mins or -- just keep it simple, dominate the ball, and don't give them much to shout about. Wishful thinking, mind.

    No goals in that team
There are no goals in any team we could put out this season. Rashford, Bruno and Garnacho theoretically have enough to get it done, but who knows if any of them will be any good

Didn't know ETH had been given a touchline ban... missed that news

Bruno must sit deep. Don’t believe Mainoo can be responsible for build up on his own. McT is useless in deeper areas.
Don't worry. McT will be the #10 while Bruno is everywhere. You shouldn't worry about build up but rather Everton running through us and Mainoo will be there all alone trying to deal with that. Hope not though.

Mainoo might struggle with physicality in this match. Hope not though.
