Kessie makes zero sense for Barcelona. Zero. Only reason they're even interested is because he's cheap for a player of his caliber - which still doesn't mean he's cheap though, because he's gonna cost upwards of 10M a year. Might as well spend 15/20 but get a player the club actually needs, if you ask me

Tchouameni would be fantastic business for Barcelona. Kessie would be Rabiot to Juve...expensive, disappointing, barely plays even because he's behind a whole bunch of better players...does not really have the skillset to fit into their football either
I totally agree. I would only sign Pablo Torre and give opportunities to a couple of Barcelona B players.
Aleix Garrido, Txus Alba have potential.

If Xavi wants him... He will have something in mind.

I haven't seen much of Kessie, Tchouameni or Gravenberch to have an opinion.

I am not in favor of signing a player just because they have a different profile.

No real particular standout features, seems like a Jack of all trades CM. I would imagine us not to be too interested — we need a specialist no.6 and a CM who can pass the ball around a bit.

To be honest if the rumours of a £50m budget if we miss CL qualification (which seems to be a given at this stage) and with so many players leaving or likely to leave this season, we should be looking to pick up as many decent players on free transfers as possible. I don't think Kessie will revolutionise us but the likes of him and Kamara are astute signings who we could get a profit out of in 2 or 3 seasons if they don't establish themselves as top players.

Not sure I really get this as a signing for them, how much is he going to play with Pedri, Gavi, De Jong and Busquets in the mix still?

I guess he could kind of fill that Vidal/Paulinho type role, physical B2B with an eye for goal. But presumably Xavi isn't exactly looking to emulate Valverde's Barca setup...

Seems odd they're willing to spend that on Kessie, but supposedly won't go near that for Araujo.

Just because they beat Real 4-0?
Because they are playing good football and there is a young team with a lot of quality. In addition, good movements are being made in the transfer market and with little room for maneuver due to the salary limit and debt.

Because they've been the most in form side in Europe not named Liverpool since the winter break and look to be on the upturn under Xavi.
So being in form for 2 months means they have recovered to win the CL and La liga?

What are you talking about?

They've been out of the CL for months, they'll probably win Europa though, and La Liga is all but wrapped up even with that Real loss but they're genuinely looking to be in the ascendancy as of late with a youthful and exciting squad.

They're also seemingly working hard to improve their weaknesses in the market so that's what I mean by recovering from losing Messi and how they looked dead in the water earlier this season under Koeman.

Their future sure looks a lot brighter than what United are looking at currently.

Right, from the team that started v Madrid
Alba is 33
Pique is 35
Busquets is 33
Aubemayang is 32
Ter Stegen is 29

Granted they do have some young players in Pedri, Gavi and the like but its not a young team.

Barca having a salary limit / debt? Yeah okay, its fine to cry about debt and lack of money but they had enough to spend £55m on Ferran and other wages?

Barca recovered means they are going to be back to the glory they were before.

No one knows how well Xavi will do in the medium to long run either.

As you have seen with Barca in the last months, the outlook can change very quickly.

He’ll be a great signing. Pity. We seem to be far too relaxed about this rebuild. We could have 2 free transfers and a signing and totally revamped our options in the middle. Seems to me like the youth might actually get a solid chance here next year but I wouldn’t be surprised to see us drop right down into the EL places in the meantime

Messi was taking home €150 M/ year. Getting rid of him automatically gives them the means to invest in the team again.

Slightly disappointed we didn't look at this one. He looked technically very good to me against us. I don't think Barcelona would have signed a midfielder if he wasn't, either. Maybe Barca was always a desired destination but it seems like we should have gone harder for this one and really put out name in the hat. I don't think there are going to be many better midfielders available this summer that allow you to get a good overhaul done.

If they want to chuck Kessie into their starting XI and slide one of Frenkie or Pedri our way, that would be nice

What rebuild? The dream is to reach top 4 without spending much. Barca wants to compete, we don't.

29 isn't old for a keeper. Alba is the only one out of that list they don't really have a replacement for, they'll be fine once all the others move on.

I dont think they have a replacement for Busquets, Aubameyang, Pique either.

Barcelona has Araujo 23, E. García 21, De Jong 24, Nico 20, Pedri 19, Gavi 17, Fati 19, F. Torres 22.
Those are 8 important players right now and the backbone of the future.

Dest 21, Abde 20, have the potential to be good rotation players.

No one cries about the debt or salary cap, it's simply the reality.

Isn't Laporta his boss?
Shortly after being president of Barcelona, Laporta wanted to sign Neymar and said that Xavi was not ready to train Barcelona.

Laporta also wanted to renew Messi. José
Elías his greatest guarantor, because Laporta did not have the money to be president, and his men, Eduard Romeu and Reverter, told him not to renew Messi.

The guy is a charlatan, opportunist and liar. In addition to putting their relatives in the club. The list of outrages he has done and continues to do is immense.

Mateu Alemany is one of the best technical directors in the world, with a lot of experience.

I don’t see where he’s gonna play at the moment. Seems a bit of a ‘sign him cos he’s free’ situation
They need the depth. They have Busquets, Nico Gonzalez for DM, De Jong, Pedri, Gavi and Puig for the other roles. Kessie will be an upgrade on Puig, quality competition and a alternative for De Jong when they need muscle power and pace in midfield over finesse.

Like others, not sure he suits Barcelona, but then again they have made some cheap signings that so far are lookign good. I think Kessie is a good player from what have seen, energetic, keeps things moveing, tough but he is a decent at everything and not excellent at anything to me. Think as he did well against us people are over estimating him a bit.

Good signing for a free, but personal opinion, Kamara definately has a higher ceiling than Kessie, he for me is the one we should be going for as one of two midfield signings I feel ths summer

Araujo might leave and they do have young players, I never said they don't. Fati has proven to be quite injury prone at the moment as well.

Barcelona do cry about it, yet they spend money. When someone claims they are almost bankrupt, go and spend £50m on Torres and get Aubameyang.

Kessie is getting 250k before tax plus adds on. You would have expect squad depth signing should be someone with 100k-150k p/w.

They must be joining a veterans league or something with the players they're signing. Out of the CL at the group stage and sitting third in a two horse league going through its worst period in years.

Kessie would never succeed in the PL. He's too slow in his decision making.
