Why? Barca didn't break any rules. Yes, they signed a lot of new players and they simply can't register them. They have to clear payroll. It doesn't matter if FDJ leaves or somebody else. If FDJ doesn't leave they still have to pay him his salary plus whatever they owe to new signings. And Barca have until 8/13 to register new players. In 7 days we will have FDJ. Or not.
If he leaves his deferred wages should still be paid by them. Thats the sticking point isnt it. They wont pay the deferred wages. Deferred wages is money he has already earned.

I think they'll activate more levers. They must have those backup plans in mind, particularly that they look close to signing two more players.

It is crazy to imagine that their entire transfer business hinges on whether "one" player can be moved on. The men at the top will have to resign if they can't register their players for the upcoming season - surely they aren't that dumb.

I'm currently rate our transfer window as 5/10. Signing Frenkie will allow me to give 7/10. Frenkie + a new attacker will be 8/10. IMO this is the signing worth a wait if we can actually really make it happens this summer window.

Really thought tuchels words were pretty telling, in the same way that he talked the owner out of going for Ronaldo I think he'll do the same with Frenkie

I wish he would but got my doubts that happens

Would only believe that if the usual Utd suspects say it as well and they haven't yet

Why?

If anything this is too obvious as Chelsea had net spend almost 200m and if they sign both Fofana and FDJ, their net spend will be about 350m or above. I can't see how they can get away with FFP with 350m net spend. With Tuchel's statement, it's even more obvious that all the report about FDJ to Chelsea is just BS news of Barca trying to bait us.

I wish people knew the difference between @FrankWhite and @Frank White

Behave mate. Chelsea are absolutely not going to sign FDJ for 85m just to make sure Utd don’t finish top 4. That’s ridiculous. If they buy FDJ, they will do so because they think he’ll improve them.

Why not? They literally did exactly that with Shaun Wright-Philips back in the day. Arsenal wanted him, so Chelsea nabbed him. He wasn't wanted, didn't improve them an iota and barely played but Arsenal weren't strengthened and that's all Chelsea cared about.

The overnight reports seem to have it a lot more in the balance than yesterday mornings reports did.

I also think Tuchel was being genuine, but I think Bohley is going to be one of those owners who buys players he wants, not necessarily what the manager has asked for.

Anyway, it’s absolutely on and he’ll be ours by the time we play next week. Back on the train. Choo fecking choo

When any owner spends that much, he will want a quick return. Other the other hand, with that many players, integration and cohesion will be an issue for any manager.

I bet Tuchel gets sacked this season. Same scenario as Fat Frank.

I'll be surprised if Poch isn't Chelsea manager by Christmas.

I want FDJ to stay at Barca but not take a pay cut. That would be brilliant. Imagine not been able to register players unless you sold off even more of your clubs future? What a mess.

I’m sure he would fit great in ETH set but his fee and wages are/will be ridiculous. Move on, there must be other players.

A Barca meltdown would be just delicious.

So you rather cut off your nose to spite your face.

You'd rather see another club crumble than your own club succeed? I mean, each to their own, but I think that's more than a little bit sad.

I'm confused, they know that an €80m bid would be accepted so why not bid and just wait it out like United have? If they're certain he wants to come then they'd have no worries about bidding and waiting.

Seems to me like it's an excuse as to why a bid hasn't gone in yet, and if one hasn't gone in within the next week, he'll still throw out they're waiting for a yes. If Chelsea wanted him, they'll bid whenever.

Well, probably because they're not certain he wants to come and don't want to get burned like they did a couple of times already this summer (Raphinha, Kounde).

I think it's fairly obvious what's going on. United made a bid hoping ETH connection will convince the player to sign, Barca accepted it because they see FDJ as expendable, while the incoming fee and saying goodbye to his massive wages helps them massively in their current precarious financial situation. The player's camp continued to insist that he wants to stay put. Whether it was down to him and his girlfriend settled there, not wanting to forego the wages owed to him, not being partcularly happy about the prospect of joining MU or all of the above, we don't know, but it's clear that for about a month now the bid's been accepted but the player hasn't moved. My bet would be on the owed wages being the sticking point, they're still looking to find some sort of compromise and it may take the rest of the window to get it done.

The Chelsea links seem to be legit. At first I was sure it was Barca trying to put pressure on United, maybe try to convince them to somehow compensate FDJ out of their own pocket to speed up the deal and use Chelsea's supposed interest to force their hand. But lately several sources confirmed that Chelsea are indeed interested but unlike MU they want to get a yes from the player before making a bid. I think it's the right approach after a few shambolic transfers that we missed out on recently and Boehly probably doesn't want the club to be used as either FDJ's desire to get better deal from Barca or United, or for Barca to turn it into an auction. There's always a chance you're going to get used anyway and end up with nothing but at least you'll know you you did all you could to get the player you wanted.

What the F did you do to get that tagline? (as surely you didn't choose it yourself?)
I didn't do anything. I was being my normal, friendly self and then a few posters like @hellhunter, @Plant0x84 and @golden_blunder decided to CURSE ME with the most disgusting of taglines on here.

What's worse is that about 50% of the time it is brought up in responses to my posts. Seriously, it's enough to do my head in. You just watch the "creative responses" I'm going to get after this post.
So, I guess there's only one thing left to do.

Please dont kill yourself over a tagline :(

I’ve liked what I’ve seen of him but isn’t he a different type of player to De Jong ? From what I’ve seen the closest player to De Jong around is Bennacer at Milan.

Is he though? He looks more like a defensive mid who breaks up plays -- who is better than FdJ at that. But doesn't appear to be the connector that ETH is looking for?

Think he's played different roles but can play DM, according to that article top 5% for pressures in Europe, top 4% for winning the ball, he can dribble, good with both feet, his passing is good. I honestly think he'll go somewhere and be one of the next top midfielders. The guy that has written that article compared him to Veratti, which isn't a bad shout. I said Modric previously, I think he can be developed into a player in that mould and think he'd be the type of player to bring more authority and influence than somebody like De Jong.

Is there any glimmer of hope left in this?
of course. Nothing has happened yet, we haven't told BBC/Tele anything about moving on to another player. The spanish media is now such a joke that random twitter people are reaching out to spanish "Tier 1's" to clarify whether their comments are actual news reports or "feelings"

As I said in my rant on the previous page....we actually haven't had a MUFC Tier 1-2 update on our position since Bangkok. At this point, hundreds of these pages have been based on spanish reporting. If this was dead and we were moving on, Simon Stone or Ducker would be reporting it. Hell, Orny is technically not a "MUFC transfer journalist" but he's fantastic and his reporting has only been about Chelsea interest and not that we've walked away.

For all these hundreds of thread pages, we've actually had close to zero "real" updates from the top of the top MUFC journalist and when they did write something, it was that we were taking this one late into the window.
