But in seriousness, any time anyone says what you have about Zelda, I get baffled too. Always thought they were some of the most beloved games, but in the many chances it had to make the final, it couldn't do it. Especially in Round 9, where it lost out to Goldeneye. Although, Goldeneye is a cracking game to be fair.

There's been too many people getting incredibly upset and in some cases insulting people's choices because their personal number 1 didn't get the votes it needed.

I find it mind blowing that no Zelda game, let alone BoTW didn't make the final shortlist. I'm not going round calling others moronic for that fact.

Gaming is a very subjective hobby. While there will be a lot of appreciation for certain genres and titles from the masses, for others those games are braindead or boring.

My tastes have changed as I've matured as a person. If this was done 10/15 years a go I probably would have voted for more FPS games, but nowadays I find them dull, for the most part.

It's a bit of over-the-top banter, I'd be surprised if anyone actually cares about a wee list on a forum.

It's struggled a lot in recent years and took quite a lot of shit recently but at it's absolute peak I would put it up against any game I've ever played. On a different day I probably put it at number one. Absolute monster of a game for a long time.

I honestly think it's because there are more casual gamers than connoisseurs so when certain people see things like TLOU or PES make it ahead of Chrono Trigger or Dark Souls, they get triggered.

This is why an audience/democratic vote will always vary widely from a critical vote done by a panel of gaming experts.

My mistake was to use the word "greatest" in place of "favourite" in the original title. That would have changed things probably. Or maybe not...

From the games that came after that list for me the ones that are among that tier: The Witcher 3, Bloodborne, The Last of Us, Red Dead Redemption 2, Persona 5 and of course, Hollow Knight.

I definitely would've had FF VI on this list. Sadly still never played Chrono Trigger. I'm still praying it comes to Nintendo SNES Online on Switch or something, but I doubt it'll happen.

Played it in SNES emulator, works perfectly.

Illegal, but if they ever port it to PC, I would buy it just to have it.
