Don't think we have one thread for new bands we've just come across or generally music so I am going with a new one.

A band I recently discovered, they seem quite well known at the minute but have only released one album with 8 songs so far. They've got a strong Led Zeppelin vibe about them.

Excellent.

Not as good as Fred Vanvleet the player but still pretty damn cool.

Jesus, giving the album a spin here, you're not joking. But it seems a bit too intentional.

Yes they do sound like them a little too much but after so many years I think it’s nice to have a good band playing similar kind of music.

It's like a Led Zeppelin cover band, especially the singer

They sound like a Zeppelin cover band. Sounded alright from what I had. For casual listening.

The guy who teaches next door to me called me into his room in our planning period and had me listen to them yesterday. He’d just heard of them.

Dude, they’re good. I thought he had Robert Plant on at first.

They sound far, far, far too much like a Led Zeppelin cover band.

Saw them live tonight in Oakland. They were incredible. Lots of influence not just Zeppelin. Lynyrd Skynyrd, Black Sabbath, lots of other 70s Rock

They are not bad, some decent riffs and the singers voice is impressive (though he is no Plant).

I’ve pretty much been listening to the album since I saw this thread and I love it, played it to my old man and he was quite confused at first as he thought it was Zepplin stuff he had never heard for a second.

Going off the replies this wouldn't be for me as I don't particularly like Led Zep. I draw the line at songs about wizards and dicks.

I take it my upcoming concept album about a wizard’s dick won’t be in your library then?

Wash your mouth out! For the record there are no songs about Wizards.... Vikings on the other hand...

I definitely remember something about Lord of the Rings in there. They're the musical equivalent of a teenage boy playing Warcraft.

If I were Led Zepplin id be asking them for royalties, they sound so much like them.

Originality ain't everything but they seem to be going out of their way to sound as much like Lez Zeppelin as they possibly can, in a way that rather irks me. No thanks.

I saw them at Download after everyone was raving about them. I found them pretty dull really and didn't see the hype - they were OK, just nothing special.

They do - nowhere near as good though.

Agreed, there is a difference between being inspired by a band and just straight up copying them.
For example, you can see how a band like Stone Temple Pilots were inspired by Zepplin but they have their own sound.

Greta Van Fleet just seem like annoying posers to me.

I think the only folks that would rave about them are people that have never actually heard Zepplin

Suspected I would hate this album and sure enough.....

Awful band.

Just seen them on SNL.

I vaguely remember this thread from a few months ago but never explored the band and totally forget the name.

Fast forward to just now and from the moment they started playing I thought to myself, "Shit, this is a Led Zepplin tribute. Shit, where have I heard about this before? Shit, let me check that thread on the Caf. Shit, it's them."

They really are shameless about it.

Even good bands struggle with the notoriously difficult SNL set but GVF got absolutely swallowed by it. These guys are stealing a living.

They're good. Originality is overrated and no one really plays this kind of music on the big stage nowadays, so it's good to have an act like GVF at least to attract new listeners and introduce rock music to them.

Totally agree, don't get all the hate.

I think these guys are good. They are very young but play very tight (obviously because they all grew up togther) and his voice is really quite something. Granted he does look like a hobbit, but he hits those notes without any effort at all. Sure they sound like LZ but that's because they play blues rock and the singer has a high range...what's he supposed to do, stifle his natural singing voice?

Anyway, this clip shows that they are a nice bunch of blokes just doing what they love.

Nah, it's not only that (can't he help moving and dressing the way he does either?), they're such a blatant copy that if they hadn't become popular I'd have thought they were a cover/tribute band. You can play "blues rock" without your "influences" being so embarrassingly obvious, like Rival Sons, for example. True, they're very young and they may still find their own sound down the line but for now let's call a spade a spade

Just because someone wears their influence on their sleeves doesn't make it a bad shirt.
