He knows what he wants to do with the ball before he receives it. Was not fazed by the occasion or the level, looks like he fits in.

Has to be a part of the senior squad for next season. He looked like belonged there even before he had had a touch of the ball.
For his own protection too, either that or loan him for a season to Ligue 1 or something.

Exactly. That spatial awareness and early anticipation and perception are so natural for him. It looks a direct contrast to Amad at the moment. Don’t get me wrong, I think Amad can make it.

You can tell a lot about a player just by the way they pass the ball. He will be a successful pro.

Looked good in that cameo, he has very good feet. Hope we get to see more of him next season.

He’s class and it looks like he’s probably going to take to first team football really quickly. It’s just do we have the space for him to get enough minutes next year. Hopefully Ole is more aggressive with the rotation when he has a few more options.

Unfazed and looked comfortable.

Having said that all the current kids are fantastic and look like they've got a great future ahead.

For relents like this, you make space. Sell who you have to sell. There's a reason Monaco were desperate to keep him.

I think the next season we will really see several of the high potential youngsters getting minutes from massive number of games here on there, because I believe Ole will add to midfield and cb through transfer. If we get a solid base which can rotate among the games, we can even definitely throw in one youngster to start a game. This season our rotation in midfield normally cannot have the same level of quality.

He's too good for the U23s and his class showed in that cameo. He'll become one of the best players here in a very short time.

Really impressive debut! Has all the tools to be a very successful midfielder in this league.

He’s so good, funny watching him at u23 level teams can’t cope with him, he came into the first team today and looked exactly the same.

Id loan him to Germany for a year, get used to a hectic style of play
Really? I think he shows he's got plenty of time even in crowded situations.

Not that I think loan is a bad idea, we should look at that rather than let him while a year playing U23 (where he gets hacked down like crazy).

Our lack of a DM will hinder us from integrating players like VDB and Mejbri into the team, let's hope we fix this area of the pitch this summer.

I agree. What has struck me from his little cameo and also from what we have seen from Amad, they both seem to have such awareness of what is around them and good decision making already at an early age. Technically the first touch and weight of pass also looks very good with both.

For me, they just look a level above a lot of the youngsters have been lauded and have or havent broken through over the last few years as they arent just ability, they look so well schooled and intelligent too. I guess that is why we have invested so much in them already.

I think both certainly are ready already for the first team squad and opportunities on the bench. Of coruse it is easy to get excited about young talent, but apart from Greenwood, from the little i have seen of both, genjuinely excited about these two more than other players in a long time, be interesting to see how they develop next season and does lead me to think we really can clear some players out to make room for some of these youngster.s..I mean James, Lingard, Chong, Mata for example can certainly be replaced by some of these youngsters.

All that shameless hacking he has to endure in the U23s has actually done him good. He was totally unfazed by the intensity and physicality. The moment when he half-dribbled half-scrapped his way out from amidst four pressing players was very promising.

He and Amad are the two who I wouldn't urgently send on loan. Amad should be a direct replacement for Mata in the squad, and I'd expect him to start getting games ahead of James in the right circumstances too. Hannibal should get a season like the one Amad just had - always training with the first team, but used cautiously and sparingly. Despite all the moaning on here, we can see that it hasn't done Amad any harm at all. Maybe Ole does know what he's doing after all.

I agree, he is literally the only central midfielder that is genuinely defensively sound and can play as a defensive midfielder. McFred are more about pressing and getting stuck in rather than experienced positioining and decision making.

I dont think we should be moving for a specialised defensive midfielder though, more an all rounder. I also think people are getting way carried away about VDB, had a good game against a poor side, I think where he has been so anomynous and where other have wanteed to play him in t he pivot....there is a " I told you so, not a number 10", he wasnt exceptional. That was more like his Ajax time though, hard working and neat and tidy, isnt the answer for me but at least that offer more to the squad than he has shown and another option

Not close situations but in the back and forth style over there. Have him carry the ball and running off opposing midfielders.

He didn't get much time but the few touches he had, he looked confident, composed and ready for more first team action.

Don't want to jinx it but......I think he's going to be a big player for us in the future.

Yep, I didn't mean we need a pure destroyer type of DM, this player also needs to have very good passing ability and is composed when being pressed.

I would be looking at his defensive ability over attacking due to our current crop of midfielders in the squad.

I'm not sure I understand your point, loaning a player doesn't mean the club don't still rate them highly, by all accounts Garner and Laird are still very well rated at the club. We saw their next natural step of progression to be out on loan. O'Connor moved permanently.
Loaning can be hit and miss. Agree with the development but look at Pereira, Petrucci , Lingard to name a few (who had an excellent season with west ham)they were all bigged up and didnt make it, just hope we wont be disappointed with Mejbri also.

Mejbri is a in a different class entirely to Andreas or Petrucci.

Lingard had a good career, played in the semi final of the world cup, then had a bunch of personal issues and never recovered on the field for us.

Hannibal is a Pogba level talent.

Always thought this. He gets absolutely battered in the u23 league but has never shied away which is a great thing.

Agreed. That's reflected in the 10m euros fee we paid for a teenager going into the academy.

Technically he looks class but it was the way he moved with the ball that really caught my eye, he glides across the grass with great balance.
