Television House of the Dragon (GoT Prequel) - No book spoilers allowed

Why not, they're HBO. Things like this should not have happened so frequently. I recall we had this incident with S6 GOT? or was it 7?

https://www.thequint.com/neon/web-culture/game-of-thrones-episodes-leaked-timeline#read-more

It happens sometimes, but it's never a good thing for HBO. The leak didn't bring any more attention to the finale, that's basically impossible. People who were going to watch it watched it, except this time some of them watched the leak instead of watching it on HBO/HBO Max.

The look on Aemond's face was priceless. Errr oops.

That and Rhaenyra’s face at the end before the credits role were the two best bits.

Fecking two years we have to wait now for S2 unless it’s majorly leaked somewhere well ahead by then.

Who was the dragon that Daemon awoke in the pit?

Not really, even Dany couldn't control the dragons sometimes. They aren't pets or as controllable as people think.

Someone even said it, the dragons are not battle tested, think it was Rhaenyra. And if they aren't then the child riders sure as heck are not either when it comes to trying to control the dragons.

2 years?! :(

Not the riders but here is a size comparison.

Imagine being that much bigger than most dragons but having that unfortunate name. Sorry Sheepstealer. They didn't do you justice.

That was a good episode.

Vhagar is a freaking Kaiju. That shot of it rising as Luke gets down from his dragon :eek: That's just unfair on the others. Can imagine it's going to take care of a few of those on team Black's side.

Also, loved that the last two episodes individually are about each of the rival factions and their quest for the throne, gives more depth to both the new Alicent and Rhaenyra leading into the war.

Can we take a minute to talk about rhaenerya literally pulling her dead baby out and dropping it on the floor like a sack of potatoes? Because feck me.

With reference to Solius' pic. I've removed a bunch of previous dragon riders because there's no point to put them. Bolded the ones which are in issue during the events of the show. Spoilered, but there's not really any spoilers here:
  • Balerion - OG Aegon the Conqueror, big ass daddy dragon that never stopped growing and died of old age. Viserys rode it once or twice when it was super old and that was the last dragon he rode.
  • Vhagar — initially Aegon’s sister wife, then went to Laena (Daemon’s second wife), now in the hands of Aemond.
  • Meraxes — Aegon’s other sister wife (this guy fecks). Died with her in battle way before the events of the show.
  • The Cannibal — untamed wild dragon that eats other dragons (and probably humans);
  • Vermithor — no rider at present. I believe he was the one Daemon was singing to;
  • Sheepstealer - another untamed dragon (that steals sheep);
  • Silverwing - no rider at present. Not sure if it's been mentioned in the show yet;
  • Dreamfyre - Helaena (current King Aegon's sister wife, daughter of Alicent/Viserys);
  • Caraxes - Daemon's long neck boy;
  • Meleys - Princess Rhaenys;
  • Syrax - Rhanerya
  • Quicksilver - died before the events of the show, iirc;
  • Grey Ghost - untamed wild dragon;
  • Sunfyre - current King Aegon's dragon. Said to be the prettiest dragon;
  • Seasmoke - Laenor Velaryon;
  • Vermax - Jaecerys (Rhanerya's oldest son)
  • Arrax - Lucereys (Rhanerya's second son)
  • Tyraxes - Joffrey (Rhanerya's youngest son with Laenor*);
  • Morning - Rhaena (daughter of Daemon);
  • Moondancer - Baela (other daughter of Daemon).
Lot of fecking dragons. Even I don't really remember.
Thanks for this. I was getting very confused

Somehow I missed that current king Aegon married his sister

Really good finale. The time-jumps were a little frustrating at times but overall a strong season & much closer to earlier GoT seasons.

Interesting how neither of them could control their dragon at the end. I wonder if that'll be the case with the others too.

Reallly enjoyed it. Sucks about the wait. At least that other show did us the curtesy of being a bit shit so we wouldn't care :/

That was the younger son right?
Was the middle child.

I've not read the book, but I reckon one way or another all the bastards will die. Don't think it makes sense if they were allowed to live.

Aye sorry, I meant the youngest of the 2 she sent with the messages

I don't even think GRRM knows so kudos to you!

Who was the dragon in the dungeon?
Daemon was talking about wild dragons and those unclaimed. People seem to think that was Vermithor, the dragon that was rode by Paddy’s…uh…uncle, or cousin, or…both. Whoever the hell the previous king was.

I think everyone in the show should have name tags

According to subtitles it seems that's the case

Succession is brutal. People got killed for picking the wrong sides.

It's dog eat dog. Whisper or no whisper it's just to make the actor more sympathetic. Even if Alicent handed the crown in total obedience they'll get murdered one way or the other for being a threat to the crown and vice versa.
That’s probably my only issue with the show. It’s tried to make Alicent and Rhaenyra too neutral. I’d love to see Alicent be more Machiavellian and cunning, and Rhaenyra more prone to Targaryen pride and rage. Both opposites but both being the ones who progress the story.

Although we might see these attributes develop over next season. We’ve seen Alicent doing what needs to be done to outmanoeuvre her father, and I get the feeling Lary’s needs to be watching his feet around her:lol: . While Rhaenyra has lost a son and was showing she’s a queen who can go against that opinions of her followers and daemon

That was weird. It was a great episode of tv but not a great finale. Felt like it would’ve been a brilliant episode 9 of GoT but ultimately nothing got resolved and it was quite unsatisfactory.

Not sure if it was just me but Daemon's voice seemed weird all episode. It was all high pitched and nasally.
Yeah said the same thing. So odd

Thought it was a great episode.

The dragon chase scene was fantastic. Loads of tension. Child characters can be hard to like in these type of shows but I liked Lucerys. Sad to see him go out like that.

Long white hair, eyepatch, scar, a jewelled eye. Aemond is basically an anime character.

They love a grisly, tragic birth in this.

I love Rhaenys. She looks regal as feck. Her dragonrider armour is amazing too.

Hoping to see the Starks, the honourable fools, next season.

I did think it was funny that the twin kings guard just waltzed up to the funeral on a heavily fortified island and was like “guys, i’m cool” without any notice or issue.

That was the younger son right?

Yep. The oldest went to the Starks and the Aryns who are up north. Though I think there's an even younger "Valaryon" kid.

Anyone remember if the dragons in GoT had the saddles and harnesses?

I dont think they did. It makes some sense that dragons would have proper equipment at this point when the whole ruling family has them.
