Well played, a good century. The intent to attack at times and score boundaries is the difference here from the first innings.

Labuschagne batting is similar to Rahul. Scratching around, not pretty but hanging in. India just lacked the punch at the other end for the first and worst time of the tournament.

Labuschagne can afford to do that knowing there's nothing there on the board to chase.

More to cricket than what some suggesting.

Sure you can argue dew etc but Australia and Cummins have to get credit for doing their homework and reading the conditions.

People were having go at Cummins for wanting to bowl first. Turns out it was an inspired decision.

India showed no fight in the bowling. Heads were gone

India wouldn't have done any better bowling first. All the Indian batsmen just looked nervy throughout.
I sort of agree with it. We got the best possible start as well. 80 runs in 10 overs. Yes you lose gill and rohit but still a great advantage. We just played knowing we will get bundled out.

Australia just schooled India in how to play in high pressure situations. Batting , bowling and fielding all absolutely top class.

Congratulations Australia.

That toss call is one of the best in recent history assuming they win this. Massive shout.

Still had to play well though.

Just not the one they needed. You're right though about how well the Aussie's have performed today when it mattered, their plans were good and several key players have delivered while India have obviously not reached the heights they had previously in the tournament.

Incredibly brave and backed it up with a near perfect performance

Toss wasnt the factor, Rohit said we would have batted. Its our brain dead batting and then surprisingly poor bowling on the same day. India players just succumbed to pressure its seems. This is almost 2003 level thrashing

Yup. India after the first 10 overs, did nothing at all to try and win the game.

They spent the game trying to survive. They were never winning this with the way Rahul batted.

Yeah the final should never have been here, largest ground or not.

Those middle overs for India where the run rate was at 2/3 absolutely killed them.

Just let too many overs go by.

Choosing to bowl was a clever decision by Cummins. It put the initiative on India. He basically backed himself to choke out the bottlers in the Indian line up.

2 ODI WC, Test champions, and 1 T20 WC in last 13 years after their golden generation retired. Quite impressive

Only Starc makes it into their all time ODI XI from these guys. And that's the 2015-2019 version of him.

Really feels like india has let the pressure of playing at home get to them. They kept initially getting on top, but then gifting extras to release the pressure. Then eventually it very much looks like they just gave up trying to put real pressure on, and just gave up tactically giving easy singles every over. The totally silent crowd isn't likely helping either, as it has sapped the energy out of the team.

Such a gutsy call, and incredible execution. They had planned the field and tactics to each and every batter down to the tee, and were fearless in their cricket and unbelievable on the field when saving boundaries and taking catches.

That's not really normal. That's India in a home WC final. Normally it's more like a snooker hall
I see what you mean now. Tuned in a few hours ago and was drawn in by the atmosphere and seeming levels of excitement. All that seems to have dissipated and it’s proving quite a chore to watch now, as tends to be the case in most sports when one side wins easily.

That said, I’m invested and figure I should at least keep watching ‘til the end. At the very least it’s been educational, did not know wickets had RGB lighting until today.

You have a team 47 for 3 and the ball is swinging no signs of dew yet. You apply pressure.

Thinking bring on the spinners when your faster bowlers have made a good start is weird thinking

At least the Modi stadium will be forever immortalised as the one where India lost a home WC final.

Can't see them ever putting another final on here again.
