The umpire gave it not out on the field so any benefit of the doubt goes to the batsman.Someone help me?
Why does in Pakistan's VAR check it went for the umpires call as "not out" even though it was the wicket?
'Umpire's Call' is used when the DRS essentially gives the 'benefit of the doubt' to the on-field decision in case of inconclusive technological evidence. So when less than 50% of the ball is hitting the stumps, excluding the bails, as per the ball-tracking technology, it's the umpire's call.
It happens a lot but they give some leeway as the technology is never 100% accurate. That's the way it unfortunately. That's unfair, I keep seeing decisions lost where it says it hits but the umpire got it wrong initially - think it was South africa vs Sri lanka and this match too.
Wonder if it would be better if it was just simple - hit the wicket or not.
I understand where you're coming from and in the real world that should be the case. However, the technology is still not 100% conclusive so any benefit goes to the batsman. That's unfair, I keep seeing decisions lost where it says it hits but the umpire got it wrong initially - think it was South africa vs Sri lanka and this match too.

Fair point. However, the cricket overlords have chosen this route. The umpire has a much higher degree of inaccuracy than the tech, so the rule makes no sense
Holy feck.
Why didnt he review?

Holy shit... Why did he walk!?
Aussies have always been known for their integrity and never doubting the umpires or bringing the game into disrepute
I can understand why he walked though, it definitely sounded like he nicked it, he himself thought he did.
Not even remotely close to the edge of the bat.
