Anyone else noticed this pattern? Every September around that international break we get flooded with injuries.

Surely United need to try to do something differently?

Don’t worry too much about it. In a few seasons we won’t have many internationals to worry about. Most of our players will have the advantage of an early season break.

League One doesn't have international breaks.

We're not the only ones.

Chelsea played against us with a heavily depleted squad on the opening day and players are still coming back for them. Man City are down to Fernandinho at CB. Liverpool are missing their first choice GK and a first choice CB.

But, but Ole was going to make us much fitter this season. After all it's why we finished the season so poorly last season. (If I knew how to write in white text I would insert something like up yours Ole here)

I don't think it's a crisis really. We're missing 1 attacker, 1 CM and a LB. It's our fault for having a paper thin squad.

It's hardly paper thin tbf.

We're still able to field players in position.

Liverpool are great when it comes to injuries. City are left with one CB and lose KDB for full season. United and Arsenal are perpetually riddled with injuries. Liverpool, aside from Chamberlain and Lallana have had barely any major injury concerns in recent times. Salah, Mane and VVD are always available.

Gomez too.

Liverpool have been lucky with mid-long term injuries to their best players, I agree. But in the 4-0 against Barcelona last season they played without both Salah and Firmino.

True. That was one absolutely absurd result given the injury situation. That aside, for the league they've been mostly fine. The key players have remained fit.

Are you the ref?
So yet again, we reach the end of September and are top of the injuries league.

Our bench on Monday is going to be utterly comical.

You could damn near set your watch to Phil Jones being injured. With this many injuries now, fitness will need to be managed even more as the season progresses.

It seems like we are near the top in injuries every season. In SAF’s last few seasons I thought it was due to an aging squad and perma-injured players like Jones. But even with all the youth it doesn’t seem like it has gotten better.

I’ve thought for a long time that jetting over to the other side of the world for what’s basically a holiday and a few exhibition matches is not ideal preparation for a new season.

I’d be interested to see what would happen if we had just one “traditional” pre season and by that I mean stay in Manchester, train hard and play competitive games against decent, local opposition teams

A lot of muscle injuries. It has to go down as a failure of our physios that the injury risks aren't assessed and prevented before they happen.

Either that or the manager does things against the advise of medical pros, which I feel isn't Ole's style.
