The idea of Benzema "sacrificed himself for the team" is revisionist history. Real Madrid tried to replace Benzema on several occastions for years. Hell, Benzema almost got shipped off in 2013 until Ancelotti veoted it. Are you referring to the advantage rule? Or do you mean that referees wait a moment to see whether the player is faking or for the attacking phase to conclude. All of the above sound sensible to me.
