Ivan Perisic or Bale as short term solution

Ole doesn't want short term solutions. If he can't get his targets, and £108m in a covid world is correctly judged as far too much , then I'm pretty sure he would rather give some game time for the likes of Elanga.

Perisic's best position is on the left wing. Bale's best position would be at the Pryors Club.

If Perisic was a RW then him 100%. However, we need someone to pretty much cover both sides, so Bale on loan is the way to go.

Ideally, i would want both players. I am sure Greenwood would still play an important role despite loaning both players, and he can also be used as Martial's back up.

Bale everyday. If he can put his recent Madrid woes behind and get up for it again, that's a bloody world class player there. A heavily subsidised one year loan could turn out to be quite a treat. My big worry is if we miss out on Sancho now, we might have missed out on him for good.

By Simon Stone, mentioned that short term solution can not be ruled out.

Costa, Bale, or Perisic = this is all a HARD NO from me. If these guys were lighting it up, they wouldn't be available. Time to stop being cheap and go get our guy. Stop settling for "option B". If we don't pull the trigger on Sancho now and next summer we get outbid by Liverpool, Chelski, or City - we will kick ourselves in the ass for years to come. This is simply stupid. Go get the kid. If they put as much effort into clearing out our versions of Costa, Bale, or Perisic - we would have plenty of funds and payroll. We need to act like a BIG club who wants to win.

Is Ighalo a short term solution?

For me, it's Sancho or just don't bother, and at this time, it's looking like Greenwood on RW with Lingard as back up..!!
yea, I'm kind of in the same boat.

Don't think we should be signing a player that is a loan for that position. We need a permanent player in there that we can get 5+ years out of.

But here we are again, looking down the barrell of a closing transfer window and we're looking at players to fill in rather than actual solutions.

The annoying part of this is we could have had Sancho if we just paid the fecking money. It's not like we don't have it. Woodward is absolutely useless when it comes to transfers!

Yes, which 30 year old left winger should we sign to play on the right when we feck up the Sancho deal?

I thought short term solutions like Perisic and Willian were only meant to block the development of young players?

Difference here is that they would be coming to offer depth rather than undisputed starters.

If we sign Bale , I have lost all hopes in the club.

Costa and Perisic are okay for me. Both are good players

If it is a loan option, then fine I guess. I never bothered with the Sancho rumours, once Dortmund were not willing to lower their price, it was unlikely to happen. All the clubs are being more conservative with their spending this season, not surprised we are not spending that amount of money on one signing in these times. It does not help that we have not manged to clear out the deadwood and get some money back as well.

Have you seen either play in the last year?

I don’t want either but Perisic is a far better player.

Peak Perisic isn't close to Bale as a player. Loads of people saying Bale is crap but he has scored over 100 goals for Madrid, personally won 2 of the 4 CL finals he played in including making Liverpool look like Burton Albion 2 years ago. He has not played because Zidane won't use him and Madrid keep screwing around when possible transfers come up but he is only just 31, well rested after playing so little in the last 12 months and would scare the shit out of opposing fullbacks. Not going to be the long term answer but if we get him on loan for a year or two whilst his Madrid contract runs out we would be lucky to have him.

I don’t know about bale. He hasn’t played in so long. It’s not a good option I think.

I’m also proud of this club for not making any rash decisions regarding Sancho. We just can’t keep overpaying for players. I think Maguire will be the last player we overpay for.

Neither. Both had thier chance and didn't take it. Manchester United isn't anyone's rebound chick.

Instead we need to consider a quality RW alternative to Sancho - Chiesa, Traore, Ismailla Sarr.

If we can get Bale on a financially reasonable deal, I think it's a no-brainer. Sure, there are question marks over his motivational levels but if he's fit and hungry, and I'm sure we'll be assessing that, you've got a player that is potentially superior to Sancho's current level. It's certainly the more exciting, higher-ceiling (though admittedly also more risky) signing compared to Perisic.

They’d be for loans. So in a way we’re telling them they’re disposable.

I'm not sure that's possible, even on 50% wage it's a hefty sum.

What a stupid stance to take. In the instance of Perisic’s case, we couldn’t agree a fee with Inter. Given how public it was, I’m sure he would have come to Utd if a fee was agreed.

Even so. So what if a player turns us down, do we then rule them out for the rest of their career?

Or perhaps we are telling them that the situation is not right for a transfer. Certainly the case for Bale, who if he performs well would then have many more options for a perm transfer.

We’re not talking about peak Bale though are we?

Exactly we’re talking about one player who has recently performed very well over an entire season for Bayern Munich and another who hasn’t played consistent football for 2 years and will have lost much of the pace that made him so dangerous.

I feel like a spoilt child. I want a Sancho right now and any reasons why I can’t have one are not good enough.

Bale doesn't fit the model at all but I would still love to see him come in for a season, simply out of a strange fascination i have to see what would happen.

Incidentally, to all those saying Bale has given up on football I say this; if he is prepared to walk away from about as perfect a situation as could be for someone who has 'lost interest' in the game to join any club, then as far as I'm concerned he still has something left to prove

Such a depressing thread to see so high in the list. After starting the summer with such high hopes, dang.

Perisic and Bale isn't scouting.
Ferran Torres is scouting.

City picked up a talented kid to play on the right, for an initial 20m. Not a player known by everyone, but a player scouts did their job scouting and observing for a period of time.

What's the point of scouring the entire world and then coming up with a list of alternatives that everyone already knows?

Yeah like I said earlier have serious doubts about him coping with the PL now, however know what you mean about a weird fascination with him too

It's because they probably feel that someone who can offer something in the wide areas rather than nothing at all. Not saying I agree with that mindset though

Because that's what fits the model of a short term solution. Id far rather have Bale or Perisic than nobody, if that was the options available.

Bale could be finished, or there's an equal chance that he could tear this league a new one. Why not take a gamble?

Kind of my point, even now Bale is better than Perisic ever was or could ever hope to be. The comments about how Bale has lost his pace, is over the hill, doesn't care about football are all assumptions made because of the disinformation campaign Zidane and his cronies have waged for 2 years. It has worked but has also been a spectacular own goal by Zidane who wants Bale out but has trashed his value with his ludicrous behaviour and team selections. If you think Isco deserves to be picked ahead of Bale then you would probably pick Troy Deeney ahead of Ronaldo.

Get Dembele on loan with the option to sign. Or see if we can get a reasonable fee for Traore. Bale and Perisic aren’t what we need. No one will replace Greenwood except Sancho, so any other attainable option will just be backup to Greenwood.

Not gonna lie. Would take Bale for a year just to see what he could do. (other than playing golf)

I find the Bale situation puzzling but he wasn't good when given opportunities and Isco hasn't really been picked ahead of him, they are both unwanted and played roughly the same amount of minutes in the league, around 1000 minutes.

If I absolutely must choose one, I'd go for Perisic - strictly on a loan, with no obligation to buy. But it'd ve underwhelming as feck, not to mention he usually plays on the left. It's still a slightly better option than wasting a ton of money on someone like Traore.

Taking a gamble on Bale who hasn't played football for about two years now would be insane.
