Well the British transfer fee record has been broken by the best manager that has ever lived, so it looks like the hype is agreed with.

Because Jack is someone you buy, regardless of what you have. City have Sterling, Mahrez and Foden and they still went for Grealish, he’s brilliant.

We currently have Rashford, Greenwood and Pogba in those positions, Grealish is completely different to all three as he’s an elite, world level ball carrier and would be great for us in Europe not to mention he’s probably the most entertaining player on the planet.

Put Grealish where Sancho has played for us and in each game he would do better than what Sancho has done.
Are you being serious with the most entertaining player on the planet? Are you a WUM?

Very good player. Vastly, hugely, overrated. They paid 40 mil more than what he is worth, and they didn’t even really need him. Very strange signing.

Unfortunately he is not, there are many of decent posters here who think similar.

I honestly don't understand what Grealish has done to warrant this type of praise. It is laughable.
He is pretty much the same as Iniesta, don't you see that?

I like him... but is he as good as Bruno or even Rashford ??
Biased of course but surely he's on another planet to Rashford now? Been a long time since Rashford looked like one of the best forwards in the league.

A closer comparison is Grealish and Sancho IMO.

Despite being injured, Rashford had 20 goals and 15 assists last season. Let’s see Grealish do that before claiming he’s “on another planet” eh?

Folks on here have to realise that Rashford has been well on his way to establishing himself as one the league's outstanding attackers.

Was one of my favourite players before his move to City.

Been a bit underwhelmed by his performances post move.

It's more to do with him the LW and Pep not fitting together. If he had Ole's freedom / PE coaching then I'd actually think he'd look a bit better than he has had.

Looking over my shoulder.
He would be perfect for United, but for City he is too similar to what they already have. We have/had plenty of great runners and counter attack players, but we lack those to unlock tight defenses. Yesterday he was on a break, and I couldn't help think that if it was Sane or Rashford instead, he would have broke through. He isn't fast enough to exploit spaces in behind, and none of their attackers are. Even Sterling lacks top speed. They are great at close control in and around the box, but PSG could ward off pretty much everything because there were nobody that could attack them from deep. That allowed PSG to sit high when in possession without risking anyone running in behind. When City were in control, they could just stick close to the players and crowd them out because they knew they could always get one back on them.

City are the opposite of United in attack - great at close control, but they ultimately have too many similar players that all want to do the same things. Corner of the 18 yard box, flick left, flick right, turn inside, play it short, and shuffle. Nobody threatens on the outside. Grealish, Bernardo, Sterling, Mahrez are very similar, and Foden and KDB are not that different.

The most overrated player in England. This is not even because of last nights game but watching him play for Aston Villa not once it I think he’s world class and would set the world alight.

Literally no one outside of England considers him one of the best wingers in the world, none. He’s soo over hyped it’s abnormal

Watch him have a good half game and see his fans rush in here to let us know how we missed out on “the next Ronaldinho”, “the most entertaining player in the world” etc.

He won’t do nothing, absolutely nothing at United that our current players don’t do.
If he unlocks the defense against low block that easy why did City draw to Southampton?

First it was “oh he plays for Villa, wait till he plays for City with better players” now it’s “he needs runner and a striker to thrive” but yet City won the league easily with no striker and made the Champions league final.

He's been good for City. Bad game. City could do with more pace on the wings but teams defend deep against them so there's only so much a wing pace merchant will do. Short of getting a striker who will put away every chance he gets (in addition to being an excellent presser and passer), they need to work on their finishing, which is absolutely diabolical.

Because his first instinct whenever anyone is near him is to look for contact and hit the deck, so many times he goes down after being barely touched and refs get wise to it and like the boy who cried wolf when he does get clattered they assume he is up to his usual tricks. The laugh of it is, his propensity to hit the deck looking for free kicks actually works against City as they want to keep the ball moving and play at a high tempo and his constant rolling around and stopping the game lets the opposition get organized and kills momentum. Pep will need to point out to him that he is not playing for relegation fodder and breaking up play hurts City more than their opponents.

Can you explain what exactly did he bring to City that they lacked?

He was not good last night. All he could do was run, stop 2 feet in front of Hakimi, do a couple of feints then cut inside and pass across to the midfield. Quite predictable, but any half competent referee would have given him about a dozen fouls in dangerous areas.

No one player can unlock a team that plays a low block. It’s a team strategy that does that.

Highlighted by the fact that we're currently experiencing such a difficult spell in his absence. I for one am looking forward to his return from injury.

I've said this before but he's good enough to play for City and fits in well but for 100m you are wanting a superstar, somebody to really take you up a gear and Grealish is not that,

They've literally just paid 100m for a squad player for a position you could definitely argue was already well stocked, madness

Is there anything to my theory that they paid 100m because they see him as De Bruyne's insurance policy? Like that all encompassing player to pick up the slack because of Kevin's fitness issues.

The problem is the hype. Yesterday Rory from Kick Off was saying that "the bigger the stage the better Grealish will be". I mean, Grealish right now is pretty much a novice on the big stage.

Essentially he's a very good footballer but he's at the level of City's other quality attacking players (except KDB), whereas the hype surrounding him makes it feel likes one of the best of his generation or something.
