I think it's just that the direct comparison of their PL goals/apps is not really a fair comparison in any way, shape or form...Few Ronaldo fans already being butthurt and mentioning Ronaldo's career in general and ignoring the simple Vardy-Ronaldo PL comparision. Should have seen it coming, I am out.
Ronaldo was playing for you lot when you were at your most dominant, so either way it's damn impressive Vardy's stats are even closeI think it's just that the direct comparison of their PL goals/apps is not really a fair comparison in any way, shape or form...
Ronaldo started playing in the PL as an 18 year old winger (with many many sub appearances in his first few seasons) and didn't really start to playing as a forward until his last 3 seasons at the club. So if you're going to compare their goalscoring records then think about the context first, otherwise you come across as not really presenting a very valid point on a Utd forum...
Discarding Ronaldo's record as a teenage winger and discarding Vardys first PL season when he was adapting to the step up (scored 5 in 34 games) you get:
Vardy - 149 games, 80 goals - 0.53 per game
Ronaldo - 101 games, 66 goals - 0.65 per game
Sorry I'm not denying that Vardy is very good! That above stat that the guy posted I think is a great demonstration of Vardy's longevity at the top level, which has probably surpassed even Leicester fans expectations after his breakthrough season?Ronaldo was playing for you lot when you were at your most dominant, so either way it's damn impressive Vardy's stats are even close
I don't think anyone has seriously suggested thatSorry I'm not denying that Vardy is very good! That above stat that the guy posted I think is a great demonstration of Vardy's longevity at the top level, which has probably surpassed even Leicester fans expectations after his breakthrough season?
It's just using that stat to suggest Vardy is a better PL player than Ronaldo was, is laughable.
And shown Rashford how to do it.What’s wrong with the post?
Would have loved Vardy at Utd. Should have stepped in when Leicester accepted the £30m bid from Arsenal and he turned them down.
Would have been a far bigger success than Lukuku.
Might be the worst trade of all time.Vardy would have been a legend at OT, I'd have swapped him for Rashford and Martial (yes both for one player) in a hearbeat.
It's not that impressive a comparison. Torres scored 65 league goals for Liverpool. He will have taken years to get his next 20. I am astonished he even managed 20 league goals for Chelsea.cheers, that'll annoy a few Chelsea/Liverpool fans I know
At least we'd get a player actually good enough to play for the club - a proper striker - instead of continuously pretending the 'potential' of Rashford and Martial will eventually come through - it won't.Might be the worst trade of all time.
No, not really. I was even contemplating buying a Vardy - jersey.cheers, that'll annoy a few Chelsea/Liverpool fans I know
I am actually not sure whether Vardy would have shown the same level at a big club. There are players like Bent, Defoe that flourish only under certain circumstances. I doubt that he would have felt as comfortable at at a big club.Vardy would have been a legend at OT, I'd have swapped him for Rashford and Martial (yes both for one player) in a hearbeat.
At 21, Vardy was on 30 quid a week at Stocksbridge Park Steels. I mean, we're all on Rashford's side, right? We want him to succeed, yes? This place makes me want to kick stuff sometimes. And shown Rashford how to do it.
I am 100% behind behind Rashford, and the stick he gets on here is outlandish - and I wish those ‘fans’ who lay into him would go off and support some other team.At 21, Vardy was on 30 quid a week at Stocksbridge Park Steels. Premier League: 32 goals in 121 appearances, 11 against the top six (34%)Would like to see Rashfords updated.
Bloody hell that's not bad at all.Premier League: 32 goals in 121 appearances, 11 against the top six (34%)
1 in 4 for a youth player used to be a fantastic return, especially considering most of his career has been switching positions. Have more respect for this lad every season.Premier League: 32 goals in 121 appearances, 11 against the top six (34%)
Vardy looks like he will finish his career at Leicester, he is loved by the fans and the team play to suit his style. He never looked great playing for England where he didn't get a lot of service.Vardy's record against the big six is indicative of our record under Ole against the better teams. Vardy and United only really function well on the counter and the bigger teams generally will take the game to you and, when you have pace, there will always be opportunities in behind. He would have been a great signing for the style Ole wants to play but that ship has sailed and Leicester have already fleeced us once recently.
Yh agreed, he had that move to Arsenal a few years back that seemed close and, rightly, chose not to make that move. I think he'll finish his career with you as well.Vardy looks like he will finish his career at Leicester, he is loved by the fans and the team play to suit his style. I'm sorry that you think Leicester fleeced you but happy if you don't want to deal with us anymore.
For one year maybe. He's 33 in January.Vardy would fit into Ole's system much better than Kane. There, I've said it
Leicester were fortunate that Vardy turned down Arsenal to stay at Leicester but we are now facing the problem of what we do when he hangs em up. We really don't have a replacement ready to go, we bought Iheanacho from Man C but he hasn't proven himself yet. As you know very well, top notch strikers are hard to come by.Yh agreed, he had that move to Arsenal a few years back that seemed close and, rightly, chose not to make that move. Leicester definitely came out satisfied with the Maguire transfer from what I could tell, it's a positive for your club because it just shows you are financially strong enough to hold onto players unless your price is reached. I've always wanted Ndidi more than any other Leicester player but just can't see that one happening.
This is the one that always got meHes too old.....
Very much so. He's absolutely brilliant. Not many strikers give you that sense of "he'll score" each gameHe's one of the best strikers in the league. If Martial or Rashford reaches his levels i'd be happy
