He’s been out of football for over 6 months and even Saudi won’t touch his demands. Any half serious player would be doing whatever they can to get back on the field it’s shocking honestly

Football especially at the top level is an extremely short career imagine looking back in 10 years knowing you’ve thrown potentially a year away

Didn’t Forest drop him from their squad for most of last season because he was so bad?

I just don’t think he’s that good

As I’ve said previously, a whole season out with no professional football played (with no injuries) seems like a career killer. It’s a pretty cutthroat, fast moving industry where through no fault of your own and all the luck in the world being injury free, you can still lose your gig quickly.

Both him and DDG are crazy if they think they’re going to find clubs that are going to meet their demands that were satiated by our dumb as feck owners. They’re more than entitled to do whatever they want, whether people want to mock them for it, but they can’t cry if come summer that no worthwhile club wants them and they went an entire season without playing a single minute through choice seemingly.

It's especially bizarre when you consider Lingard essentially blamed United for wasting a year of his career after the West Ham loan. He's now free to do as he pleases and he hasn't been able to find a club for the last 6 months.

It points to how toxic the culture at this club is/must've been if you have multiple senior players like him and De Gea who are happy to not play football for months at a time because the contract doesn't quite suit them. Their egos must be huge.

In my opinion the youth academy needs a serious rethink in terms of discipline. Too many top players (Ravel, Lingard, Pogba, Greenwood etc) had lost their way. In my opinion the United's spot light is too big for young players to thrive in. Maybe its time we sign a deal with a feeder club. Alternatively we can do what I suspect we're doing this January ie we sell those players and add buy back clauses to the deal.
Wow, a devilish post I agree with! To varying extents, you can also add the likes of Januzaj, Macheda and Wilson to the list (all I believe have publicly stated they lost focus after making the first team, thinking they had made it). There's others who fell off the map even before reaching the first team like Gribbin, Petrucci and probably many more lower profile talents who didn't reach their potential. There also seems to have been more than a fair share of academy players who have had career destabilising injury records (or a combo of injuries/mentality) - Tuanzebe, W. Keane, Thorpe, M. James, which might suggest some issues (although most of these are quite some time ago).

There's possibly been some improvements in recent years, hard to tell because it takes many years to bear fruit. But we have Mainoo and Garnacho, a few on the periphary like Gore, Kwambala, possibly Fernandez/Hannibal, whilst there's several players who have left who at least look like becoming solid PL players. Hopefully we see these kids progress plus more youngsters coming through in the next few years. But ensuring they stay on track and not distracted has to be a top priority.

Yeah - what's their motivation to play football like at this point? They're both multi-multi millionaires, they've both been at one of the biggest clubs in the world. In some respects I don't blame them for not wanting to drop down a level but it's absolutely damning of them as professional footballers really. If they gave two shits about playing football for the love of the game if nothing else - they'd have clubs, for sure.

That was nonsense as he was obviously angling to run his contract down.

To be fair, he's being sort of smart with investing his money instead of blowing it all on drink and gambling.

He's a businessman, not a footballer.

His career at top level is over because everybody can $ee where hi$ focu$ i$.

Looking over my shoulder.
Just opened an aptly named restaurant in Wilmslow

Why do footballers persist with their outfits? That sweater must be the worst I've seen in ages. It takes about 10 minutes trying to read the crap on it as well - great for making eye contact.

The funny thing about him now is that there are discussions about him wasting his career. Imo, he was lucky as feck to have a career at the level he did. Nowhere near the talent or quality for a United level player.

When he runs out of money. Which given some of his investments won't be long...

I do hope his restaurant goes OK though. Brave though in this financial climate.
Brave is one way to describe it. As you say its not a great time to open a restaurant. And considering the success of his previous business ventures I wouldn't bet on this one being a success. I wish him luck though.

Most restaurants fail, it's a highly competitive market, and it's even harder when you have zero experience of running one. It seems that Jesse just simply starts businesses for the things he likes doing in his spare time (shopping/eating out/playing games) without any idea other than "why not? Can't be that difficult?".

Didn’t read the article then mate? Jake Shaffi is his partner who’s worked in the industry for years

Jerk Junction in Chorlton makes really good food. If I'm ever by them Wilmslow sides I might stop by his to see if it measures up
