He's always been naff but you can't deny his talent. The old dears always loved it and some of it is hum-worthy.

Billy Graham is the one who fecked him up, made him bottle up his wild side and be all furtive and weird. fecking religion as usual.

Rick Parfitt from Quo (Yes I know)....His daughter died in 1980...
Rick got deeper and deeper into drugs and drink as a result of depression over it.
His wife at the time, knew he was a massive Cliff fan, so she asked Cliff to talk to him.
Cliff came around one day and started talking about God and the bible to Rick.
It sent Rick into even more drink and drugs.

Some man is Cliff

That's really a load of rubbish though. Elvis didn't write any of his stuff either. The people who win X-Factor also have talent.
Elvis was at least a great singer though, so was Sinatra who also didn't write his songs and Elton John always wrote the music to his songs. Cliff's voice is a bit meh, if you got 100 random people off the street there is a good chance at least one of them would be as good of a singer as Cliff ever was.

^^ agreed. There's a talent in performing, admittedly. And in exceptional voices (particularly range). But general singing is a common or garden kind of talent.

Rolf was more talented than Cliff if we're ranking the pedos.

Also Elton John is significantly more talented than the other two/three if we're getting into it.

Most of you aren't aware just how big he was when he first started.
What does big have anything to do with it? One Direction are bigger than Leonard Cohen. Big whoop.

Doesn't he wear a colostomy bag? I suppose he needed to keep his arse clean for his friends.

How many more are they going to find?

The scale of this investigation is so huge it's hard to contemplate. The entertainment industry back in the day was horrific.

It's horrific. Expect a new name every week to be linked to touching kids.

Trevor McDonald and Norris Cole next probably.

It's got to the point now that I think there are no more surprises. Most people are disappointed, but now unsurprised to see these names come up.

X factor? They don't have talent, though. By this I mean real talent, they can sing better than the ordinary person but that doesn't mean they're particularly talented.

More have come forward with allegations against and information about Cliff Richard, as was the polices intention when they decided to work alongside BBC reporters leading up to the raid.

Sounds to me that just like Saville, journalists have known about rumours of Cliff Richards for years and by making the raid public they have managed to get people to start coming forward.

Elvis was a superb singer with an instantly recognisable voice who could effortly cross over several genres - R&B, R&R, ballads, gospel. Was lucky enough to see him (on TV at least) in his prime during the late 50s/early 60s before the naff films, rhinestone all-in-ones and burgers took their toll.

Cliff Richards was a pale shadow by comparison, liked the Shadows though.

Elvis sounds like a cheesy, half-decent karaoke singer. His dance moves were crap and his mannerisms were those of a total weirdo.

He's easily the most overrated singer/performer of all time.

You're only looking at 70's Vegas Elvis.

He's probably the most important figure in popular music. There wouldn't be The Beatles without him.

There would be a helluva lot more successful black singers in the 60s without him though.

There wouldn't be Elvis without black rock and roll artists, there wouldn't be rock and roll without the blues, there wouldn't be the blues without negro spirituals and there wouldn't be negro spirituals without slavery.

Yay, slavery!

So, back to Cliff.
Some politicians are angry that the raid on his house was made public and the media were involved.
They police defend this action by saying that some new witnesses have come forward but hasn't his reputation been damaged forever.
Shit sticks. Even some of the people that were found not guilty have this attached to their name now, e.g. Jim Davidson, Freddie Starr and Jimmy Tarbuck. Won't there always be a doubt.
I even saw some idiot post the other day still calling van Persie about the rape allegations that were found to be made up.

What do you think? Should the raids be media events? Are they just doing it to show that the wheels are turning in the investigation, even though they only seem to be targeting people that are irrelevant now?

You're also forgetting country and western and european and other forms of white american folk music. Rock and Roll is a blend of blues and country, its not all down to slavery mate!
