Yeah, they can feck off with those demands. Even if we are in financial healthy situation it would raise an eyebrow. If they don't lower those figures, doubt that Arsenal will take him and they have the money.

Felix is probably the biggest name that could move this January.

So it makes sense for the media to run with the story all day long.
 
The money involved for a half season loan is daft, and it gets even less sensible with each passing day.

I still think he will leave Atletico. And they will come down on the loan fee. Remains to be seen whether it's to us or Arsenal
 
A loan fee of 6-8m is a lot of money but a great investment if it secures CL football. Felix can carry the ball which none of our players can do. If there is an obligation to buy at 70m then it is a deal breaker. Ronaldo's wages will save us 15m.

Probably mostly to do with booking years for either the buyer or the buyee. Say Utd are at the end of their budget for the financial year, but they can afford Felix with their actual funds, this could be an outcome. On the other hand, it could also be that Atleti has good numbers for this year but wants a head start for the next so they're able to splurge in the summer (or for other reasons)

For a loan it does seem high, but players of his caliber usually aren't available on loan. We should be taking advantage of this situation. I can even see him doing a job on the right

Yes. He is the best available player out there, better than Gakpo, and can play in several positions. Right now we have no quality cover for Bruno or Antony. Might struggle with the physicality of the PL though.

The mooted loan fee would only be worthwhile if an option to buy the player is also included in the deal and United also think he might have a long term future at the club. As a short-term loan deal only, the fee is completely unjustifiable.

It still doesn’t add up to anything that makes sense from United’s point of view. If we’re willing to be bound to buying him in the summer, then buy him now with a contractual obligation to make payments on a schedule that works for both clubs.
 
Watching him versus Barcelona right now (ITV4 in UK) I don't see what he would bring. May be an off night but he seems on the periphery of the game.

People were saying exactly the same when Gakpo was playing for PSV against Rangers during a period in which he was heavily linked with us (and the window still open). It's almost impossible to evaluate a player properly when he's unsettled. For Gakpo it was the allure of a huge step up, for Felix it is the chance to rescue his career from that terrible mistake that was joining a Simeone side as a creative prospect.
 
Shows an awful lot of frustration. I understand he probably wants out, but so much whining and gesturing ain't gonna help. And personally, something I don't like to see in a player.

You can see he wants the ball coming into him far more often than he's getting. It's just a complete clash of styles - Simeone wants most of his players to do their best work without the ball and Joao Felix does his on it.
 
I think he's on 280-300k a week there. I'd hope he's willing to maybe take a slight cut long term to play for a different club, it could be another problem for the prospective club once the loan ends even if he does well enough and you agree a fee with Atletico. Could end up with him being on loan each year if he wants a new club contract to match his current wages unless an oil club come in.
 
Case in point. And I spent this much time watching Atletico. Mistakes all around.
 
I honestly don't get the fanfare for him. I would have thought that after Pogba and Sancho we would've learnt not to get too impressed by fancy dribbles and first touches. Felix as talented as he is a player with no defined role, he's a creator and scorer but doesn't do either well enough so provides a tactical dilemma.

A fancy player that drifts out of games is usually the most disliked type of player here but muppets gonna muppet I guess.

I'm a big fan of his talent but can't really disagree with any of that.
