Pickford would be so underwhelming. Might as well as keep DDG instead of wasting money.
You clearly don't rate Pickford - as evidenced by your first sentence in the post I initially quoted. It's OK to be behind a manager and still question their judgement/decisions - not everything has a grandmaster plan behind it that will somehow turn Pickford into a starting GK for a team competing for major honours, but alas, please proceed.

He’s better than De Gea is now because De Gea has declined quite steeply and Pickford has improved a lot in the past 2-3 seasons which the stats pretty much back up, especially this season.
He’s better than Ramsdale who everyone seems to spunk about. I’d have Allison, Ederson and Raya probably as the best keepers in the league with Pickford around that top 5 spectrum.

DeGea is absolutely crap. Pickford is definitely an upgrade on DeGea's current level. Of course DeGea is the more accomplished keeper on his history but he's not that guy anymore.

I have my doubts about his distribution, but I'd still take Pickford over De Gea any day. And I think Pickford would look just as good as Raya, as a shot-stopper at least, if he had a functional defense like Brentford's.

he’s not better than de gea. Even in a season where most think he struggled, he had 3 more clean sheets in the PL than second place. Pickford isn’t one for helping build up from the back, and I would argue his long passing was mostly ineffective last season given how badly Everton struggled offensively. We need a player exactly like Ederson, or as close to him as possible. Pickford isn’t anywhere near that type of GK.
You're right, I don't rate Pickford. He'd be pretty low on my list of GK signings. What I'm saying is that ETH probably has a pretty clear idea of the profile of player he needs in certain positions to get his team playing the way he wants. I may not agree with the choice, but I trust his judgement if he sees the required attributes in Pickford. His signings to this point have been as good as anyone could have hoped, hence my trust in his decisions.

Yeah, because clean sheets are all about the goalkeeper. Look at the fbref stats for this season. Pickford is better than De Gea in pretty much every single category. De Gea was one of the worst performing keepers in multiple categories. We struggled offensively because our only good forward player is a crock ffs.
I'm not sure how you can equate Everton struggling offensively with Pickford's passing. Talk about stretching a point.
They had no decent striker all season and not much creativity either. What can the keeper do when the outfield personnel isn't there? He's 100 yards up the other end of the pitch from where goalscoring action is created and scored from.
It's quite funny to me that basically every Everton fan has extremely positive things to say about Pickford and yet for some reason there's still a prevailing opinion that he's absolute shite. I'm convinced at this point that it's just because he's English, and people are trying to over-compensate for the perception that we overhype our players.

He's at least 33% of what you want to be fair. Not massive or a box dominator as such.
Henderson is an absolute nothing player at PL level. Below average at everything expect catching crosses and saving pens, and he lets in soft goals every other week.
Pickford is a Lloris regen. Capable of some incredible shot stopping, but erratic and error prone. Not what we need, but still far, far above Henderson.
Yeah, it’s not like we are saying he’s the best keeper ever either. Just that he’s turned into a really good PL keeper that we would be far worse without.

I'd argue 90s keepers were better at dominating the box than modern keepers, but other than that, I agree.
