He is just way too slow in everything he does. Just can't see him making it here. Maybe he will be a decent squad option one day, but can anyone imagine him competing with Bayern, Real, Barca and City in CL?

Still early days and we should not make a definite judgement until he at least has most of a season under him but if we had not got him out and some other premier league team had signed him and he looked like he is now we would probably all be saying we dodged a bullet there and that he is not premier league standard.

Nothing really came off for him but I thought he worked relatively hard and was decent in his pressing angles/triggers. It's a low bar but it's much better than previous appearances for me.

Not good enough. Simple. Can look for positives like he runs around a lot but his speed in everything he does including running is not good enough. Doesn’t seem to be any danger in him at all for a forward player

I've watched the lad in the flesh more than enough to know he's no striker. That said when he dropped a little bit deeper he looked more comfortable on the ball so they should maybe scrap the idea of playing as a striker and try him in other positions.

It's either that or loan him out in January and get rid in the summer.

He needs some kind of Joelinton transformation...but that is rare and Zirkzee doesn't seem to have the Engine for it.

The goals aside, even the things he's supposed to be good at like orchestrating the game he seems kinda crap. Still pretty early on, so let's see.

I thought he was good tonight. He clearly isn’t a no.9 - but he’s decent in tight spaces linking up the play, he’s good at holding up the ball and bringing in other attackers. He worked hard and complements our wide players. Given time to settle more I think he’ll prove to be an asset.

Not often I write a player off this early, but he is truly horrific, can say with confidence I don't think he will make it here.

Slow, lumbersome, wants 2/3 more touches than he has. As bad a showing as I've seen for a while.

Looks a proper waste. Hope the links to Juve are true and they're willing to pay. Rather recoup the fee and look for someone who fits what we need more.

Weghorst and Ighalo were both better. He's bad.

As tempting as it is to say let's see him under the new manager, if we can move him on in January it's a no brainer for me.

I just don't see it with Zirkzee.

Fair play for your opinion but really don't agree. He was really poor in tight spaces, he lost the ball the majority of the times he received it once pressure was put on him.

He had about 3 good moments in a game where he saw a lot of the ball. When I say good moments, I mean he completed a meaningful pass, into a player in space, moments almost any player in the team would be capable of doing.

He hasn't looked up to it in any of the games he's played for us to date.

He has 2 assists in 3 games! He must be doing something right.

He just isn’t. Not by a long stretch
Again you're entitled to your opinion and can huff on the copium. The thing he's meant to excel in i.e holding up the ball and bringing others in to play, he barely managed tonight. I'd love to see the possession turn over stats for tonight's game, he will undoubtedly be our worst performing player in that regard.

Still early days but it’s not been a good start for Zirkzee…I’m still trying to decide what his strengths are.

Hojlund has his own struggles, but he showed a few glimpses in the CL during his early days at United. Those small highlights helped ease the pressure on him.

But young Zirkzee needs a goal and a performance asap.

Miles off it again. Concerning. Should not be getting minutes in any meaningful game.

Such a poor ST. His touch is awful. Can’t pass. Not sure what he brings to the team

Can we send him back for like half the fee? Maybe they'll accept that?

But seriously, he doesn't seem like he will succeed here. Barely breaks a sweat and for someone his size, he does get pushed around easily, specially in the air. Also as mentioned here, for someone who prides themselves on being a 9,5 or whatever, his touch is shit at times.

His touch is good generally but the truth is he’s struggling to adjust to the pace and intensity of English football, he’s always just 1/2 a yard short to get to the ball, to press a defender, to reach a pass, his shooting is very average for such a technical player, he needs a lot of work and RVN is probably the best person to work with him and he might not be here in 2 weeks?

If he doesnt improve soon he’s going to have less time on the field, more time on the bench and if Gyokeres joins, he’ll be in the stand looking for a new club. You can’t be a United 9, 9.5 or 10 and score 1 in 12 it’s not tenable.

I still think he's a really interesting player potentially with his combo of size and playmaking abilities. He was also a much better dribbler at Bologna, much more willing to try things. Played with real flair and invention.

He's clearly struggling with the pace and physicality of the game since he came here. Then he went on that run where he missed a few sitters, followed by a game where he had an absolute nightmare and the crowd even started getting on his back (was it Liverpool or Palace?) and since then he's been struggling for confidence. Not only playing badly, but playing within himself.

I feel like he's one of those players who'll need a big adjustment period and we won't see the best of him until after Christmas.

Feel bad for him, his confidence looks shot.
For me, it's crazy how many are completely ignoring this. His self-belief is on the floor; his descent from the player he started out as is clear as day. He needs a coach(es) who can really get into his head constructively and aid him with these teething problems. At the moment, he looks overwhelmed by most of what is going on - especially the pace and intensity of everything - and looks like the type whose head then drops, which makes him look lazy and indifferent.

He's a much better player than he's showing of late, but if he doesn't get his nerves back under him, he'll not get much time here.

Ten hag definitely isn't the guy fill him with confidence. Let's see how Amorim does.

With the exception of Evra and Vidic, I can’t think of many players in our recent history that started badly and turned it around to become first team players.

Sadly I cannot see him making it here. We are not in a position to wait and see if he comes good. If we keep him, I’d imagine he’ll be sold for peanuts in a couple of years or leave on a free.

Sell now to Milan, recoup some value, and try our luck with a new signing that is a true #9.

I actually felt sorry for him today, looked completely lost against mediocre opposition and only seemed to get into the game after we'd scored our fifth and the game slowed down massively.

Not sure he has the right mentality (never mind technique) to succeed at a club like United, but hope he proves me wrong!

When people say he started well do they forget that in his first performance before he got the goal he looked exactly like the Zirkzee we've seen all season. He has a good 5min spell after that but that's all it was, five minutes with about three good actions.

His first start against Liverpool was more of the same, he was dreadful. The only game he was somewhat decent was the Palace game and even then it still all felt a bit toothless with him as he was withdrawn after 60mins in a 0-0 game.

He seriously gives me Memphis, Kagawa and Sancho vibes. Players who could impose their style of play on defenders in the leagues they came from but lack the athleticism to replicate this in the PL.

Can’t understand what we were thinking with this purchase really. Similar to Mount in the sense that it just doesn’t seem like a smart way to spend your limited money.

I think this is true. I watched him closely last night and he just doesn’t look like a number 9 - he’s not selfish enough and the ball rarely finds him in the box. However, when he drops deeper he looks a different player. He’s got a decent first touch and uses the ball well bringing others into play. If I’m honest I don’t really see a long term future for him at United but it will be interesting to see if Amorim can get any more out of him.

Said at the time when we signed both that neither made sense.

If either was a even 10/15 million signing for squad depth still fine but paying what we did for either was stupid.

Rest of the signings this summer were still fine but this was strange. He has no goalscoring record of any kind anywhere to write about and we needed a 9.

How can Amorim realistically get the best out of him? From what I've seen, his style differs from Gyökeres at Sporting. Zirkzee, to put it kindly, seems a bit out of sync—almost as if he's a step or two behind in his reactions and decisions.
