Ole is trying to replicate SAF as far as trying to implement a fast and fluid attacking style IMO. But the difference now is that the emphasis is on the fullbacks rather than the traditional wingers to provide the width and teams are prepared very differently off the ball tactically as far as placing a clear emphasis on high pressure which requires the collective to move together for it to be effective. And having had the time to watch several Molde games during lockdown when Ole was at the helm, it was pretty clear he favours a very agressive high press with the CBs pushed up near the half way line and the fullbacks playing as wingers. His Molde team sacfriced defensive stability for goals. His team scored alot of goals but also conceded a fair few but ultimately it must be said that he was successful in implementing a proactive approach in his homeland.

Whether he can succesfully transform United in a similar fashion remains to be seen. But he will have to sign a DM who suits playing in a team that sacrifices defensive stability for offensive gain. Someone quick, mobile and tenacious who can potentially dominate defensive zones in a high risk approach.

Ole has taken on Fergies mantra but added the modern approach to it. When I watch Jurgen Klopp's Liverpool it reminds me off Fergies teams from the past which IMO is a natural evolution of our teams from the past. And I would say Ole is trying to replicate Klopp stylistically. Whether he will be successful remains to be seen though, but at the very least I do believe he will leave behind a squad that will be of use to a coach that favours a modern proactive approach if things don't work out.

A containment specialist, someone mobile, good at cutting passing lanes, defending while moving toward his goals and at intercepting. In theory McTominay has most of these qualities but he doesn't have the mentality he takes too much gambles defensively and his positioning isn't there yet but he is still young for that type of job also he would need some personal coaching, maybe Carrick can do it.
But regarding Leipzig, what do you think about Laimer in that type of role?

Think the occasion got to them and they just weren't ready. Maybe Nagelsmann's tactical gameplan was outdone by Tuchel's, and the difference in quality was a factor, but i think ultimately Leipzig just bricked it and made it easier on PSG

I've mentioned Laimer as a potential incoming and he ticks alot of boxes. Presses brilliantly after the press is initially triggered by the forwards and leads the Wolf pack in hunting for the ball like a boss (as one of my friends would say) He's also very good at advancing play while under high pressure, which he doesn't get enough credit for IMO.

But personally I feel Gladbach's Zakaria would be the profile of player that would be best suited to playing in a midfield consisting of Fernandes and Pogba. He's someone that I've seen dominate defensive zones against very strong European opposition in defensive transition and would be a brilliant containment specialist as you put it nicely.
 
IMO I think we should take a serious look at this man. Not downplaying Ole or anything, but I long for the day United as a team collectively play good with a clear plan and tactics, as opposed to individual brilliance.
 
A lot of us have been wanting Julian at United for a while and will be interesting to see him come to old Trafford in the away dugout.

Hope we get the points against them, and hope he gets to see the magic of the club first hand
 
He could be the best thing since sliced bread, but he won't be successful in this club under the current ownership
 
Genuinely worried. If we beat them the Caf may have to cease trading. It would shake us to our very core. Everything we know would have proved to be wrong.

the biggest question is what clown suit will Nagelsmann wear at Old Trafford?
 
Doubt any United fans are rooting for Nagelsmann to come out on top, but it would be fascinating to see how the two approach the games.
 
What better way to audition for the United job than to knock out the United manager with a less superior squad. Could be the moment, where he jumps ahead of Pochettino for this job, especially those who likes knee jerk reaction.

Are you sure? I'm not. There's a definite enthusiasm in some for Nagelsmann to outclass Ole.

If there are any Leipzig supporters here, no you have not entered a Leipzig forum, this is United forum but most fans are rooting for Julian to beat Ole.

I'm more than certain a good number of our "fans" would be supporting Nagelsmann . If he wins, Nagelsmann>Ole, if he doesn't the squad value excuse will be used by them

United might have 'superior' individual talent....but as a team, Leipzig is the more consistent performer the past couple of years.

To be fair, if Ole “completely outplays” and win both games against Leipzig, then he wins. If it is anything like the Brighton match, then you are right, there isn’t a scenario where Ole will come out looking good
 
Just found out how young this guy is. He could still be managing in 40 years time (if he so desires) and already he is seen as one of the best managers around, by some people.
 
People talk like both squads are = and its clean battle between Ole and JN. Also it wouldnt be surprise to anyone that some might wanna see JN on top, it wouldnt be the first time, under LvG so called United fans wished their team to lose and defended it with "greater good" bullshit, heck think we even had something during JM, some regretting that comeback vs Newcastle.

Haha. I rate Nagelsmann but I hope and think we'll get 4/6 points off them.

Hopefully this will give our executives the chance to see Upamecano and decide to buy him :cool:
 
So after his whole career, Nagelsmann's reputation will be decided on two matches versus Ole.

Like last year, Ole was better than Tuchel but now suddenly Tuchel became better. Variance of managerial reputation is through the roof here.
