Lautaro Martinez

even before that one, messi played him through and he didn't score, a pretty clear chance.

anyway his market value is probably 5m now, time to buy
Messi through ball,
The one which Messi scored (he attempted it from that angle instead of squaring it)
Free header.

Jeez - he was embarrassingly bad

Misses aside, I thought he was a very good substitute. Gave Argentina some fresh impetus up front at the right time.

Certainly didn't do himself any favours over the past month. He was rather shit if I'm being blunt

If his horrible misses were just in that game I would say he had a bad game, but he did it throughout the tournament, might have been the pressure getting to him, but that isn't a good sign imo, and we should stay well clear.

He had at least four big chances to bury the game yesterday. And it was not last match but the whole tournament. Should stay well clear imo.

I forgot about the chance nearish the end where Messi? put him through on goal. He looked like he was running through mud and he'd hardly been on the pitch.

Seems like you'd take the risk on him if he had a year left and was gonna cost like 30M, because going 1 in 2 the last 4 years in Serie A from age 22-25 really is a nice resume for a striker, probably projects as a 2 in 3 type at his peak in Serie A and a 1 in 2 in the Prem type. Higuain had a slightly better record and was technically better, but he has a little bit more mobility, though only for 3-4 more years.

I don't mind buying the donkey of the World Cup, we'd have done well to get Higuain after the 2014 World Cup when he had his first brush with losing immortality, he still had 4 quality seasons in him. But the time to get him was when he left Madrid, same it was with Robben, Sneijder, Kovacic, Llorente, Hakimi, Theo Hernandez. You could make a nice XI if you add Navas in net, Varane at CB along with Albiol (has been shockingly pretty good, especially in deep lines) the last half decade and Cristiano, who we should have signed when Juve did instead of after. Or Callejon if you want to look at value, as he was 9M and scored a large number of goals and would have been a quality #3 winger here filling in on both sides (Right footed RW, probably could have been a similar goal threat at least on the left).

I guess my takeaway is that wow Reinier has 5 goals in 7 for Girona in La Liga? We should sign him up, and maybe not completely rule out Dani Ceballos having a nice peak in his late 20s.

World Champ for sure, but my word he was absolute shit in this competition.

Shooting is very poor, you can see why he doesn't score that many goals.

I remember that one. Felt like he was in slow motion.

Honestly thought his misses was going to end up costing Argentina ala Higuain in 2014. He’s been terrible this World Cup.

Cnut ruined the celebration photos more than the robe.

Think he'd be a bomb playing alongside Lukaku. Strikes fear into the opponent before the ball is kicked.

He’s shit. And so many people on here wanted us to buy him
Tbh I think I'll fit us, with his link up play and all that stuff but his finishing is really bad.

Tell me about being dreadful.

Between him, Lukaku and Cheddira for worst striker cameo of the world cup

Cameo? He's started every game no? If he could of finished they would of beaten Saudi and beaten Australia by so much more.

How is he normally for his club? If you base evaluations on this world cup you would think Diogo Costa is terrible aswell.

Imagine being Inter - having both of them at the club! :wenger:
And then imagine being Barca, knocked out of the UCL group stages by Lukaku and Lautaro lul

In terms of WC performance, CR7 > Lukaku > Lautaro and CR7 has been shit

I actually thought he caused the French major issues, he totally unsettled them after a period where Argentina had completely collapsed.

His finishing was a well off though, seemed far too desperate to score whenever I watch Argentina.

Maybe with his poor performance in the world cup, this would be a good time to try for him?

He's shite and with an annoying face to boot. If he wasn't Argentinian with an exotic name he'd be playing in the third tier.

He didn't have a good word cup, yes. But the comments here on the Lautaro Martinez we've known for a few years are rather harsh. Even the goal he did score in the world cup gives an indication of his class.

Christ! For a minute I thought I was in the Lisandro Martinez thread and got worried about the comments.

9 pages about this guy is insane, I think we would be better bringing Ighalo back. He is nothing special for Inter too, 36 year old Dzeko is still better player than him.

For me he still had some good moments including some good touches in the final and some unlucky moments earlier on. For example I think he had a goal unfairly chalked off against Saudi Arabia which would have saved his performance.

Its not like I wouldnt want him at the club for a fair price. But his finishing was poor for someone considered one of the better forwards in the world and he absolutely had a world cup where he deteriorated his reputation rather than enhancing it like a lot of the Argentina players. He'll need to come again and show he can be a big game player and not a bottler.

What would you consider a fair price
