What defines a UTD legend, thats a very subjective question and its best to tak about the last decade or two as most on the forum will not have been around to watch Bobby Charlton play.
In my mind, to qualify, they need to have retired, its as follows.......
Loyalty to the club and its supporters
Footballing flair and entertainment value
Honours (both personel and club)
There are many in the current squad that meet this criteria, Giggs and Scholes stand out. Gary Neville will be remembered as a great servant of the club but, a legend, I don't know?
For me there are a couple in the last ten years that really stand out, the first is Peter Schmeical, what a player, what a pro, the best goalkeeper of his generation or any other that I remember.
Eric Cantona. What can I say about this man that has not already been said. A genius, an entertainer, and he for me, is what defines Legend. He was our talisman, he was the man that helped shaped our great club into what it is today (for good or ill) the most inspirational player to wear the shirt in twenty years.
These two will be joined by Giggs and Scholes when thay retire and richly deserve their place in the pantheon of Manchester United legends.
