Seeing Almunia as captain in that photo pretty much sums up the lack of leaders Arsenal have.

Whereas we could easily have 3-4 credible captains on any given Saturday playing for us.

Arsenal win so few trophies that they have the comfortability of posting their success around the ground, so the fans are reminded, that even though the this team is shit, they won the FA Cup in 1998 and the League in 2002 etc,...

The pictures don't show all the trophies, is the Emirates Cup on there?

Quick, let's all enroll in Pete's "The art of making shitty, biased claims with a straight face." Limited offer, on invitational basis only.

Dont take his WUM-making course though, it's shit.

Its in year 6 isn't it Pete? Why are you using 2006 as your marker, seeing as the last time you won anything was actually in 2005?

As for everyone laughing at Arsenal, again they were just one or two players short. If Wenger stops being stubborn in the transfer market over the summer, they could very well have enough next year.

But it's literally the same thing we hear every year. They just need a goalkeeper, and another defender, and a striker. Or is it a defensive mid. Or a winger. Whatever it is, Wenger always comes up a couple of players short. Or, the difference between a very good coach and a great one.

By the way whats with all the sudden trumpeting for Chelses Pete? according to your pearls of wisdom they were finished, last season being their last hurrah, they werent even in the title race according to you last week, now all of a sudden they're going to beat us at home and win it? am i right in saying you had them down to finish 4th at the start of the year?...hehe

So is it safe to say thats yet another one of your predictions down the pan?

Its not as simple as that though, is it? What's to say that Wenger didn't ask for one or two big names, only for the board to refuse it on the grounds of wages or the transfer fee being deemed too large? If this is indeed the case, this might be why the Arsenal board seem to be very understanding of the draught the club's going through.

Given that we don't actually know what's going on behind the scenes or just how restricted Wenger has been, we can only judge him on what he's achieved with the resources that have been made available to him. There aren't many who could match Wenger's recent achievemnts, if given the type of budget he's had to work with. He's kept them competitive and barring a few collapses, they could have easily won the league in the last few years.

It's taken a £70m investment from Chelsea in january in order for them to overtake Arsenal and they're only ahead by 3 points. £70m is probably what the whole of Arsenal's squad has been put together for, which shows you all you need to, about just what Wenger's been up against. We can all talk about United also being financially restricted but our spending easily dwarfs arsenal's and without it, I doubt we'd have been half as successful as we have over the last 5 years or so.

I seriously doubt that our net spending dwarfs Arsenal's over the period of the last five seasons seeing as it's around zero. Hernandez, Smalling, Valencia, Nani, Vidic, Evra, Carrick cost a total of £80m and we got £80m for Ronaldo. Then we have the likes of Anderson, Hargreaves and Berbatov who also cost significant amounts of money (a total of over £60m) but we sold Smith, Heinze, Richardson, Rossi, Pique, van Nistelrooy, Shawcross, Bardsley and got around £50m for them. I am sure I forgot about some players but our net spending has been very insignificant during that period.

Our net spend according to our accounts is around £50m, thats after such a huge fee for Ronaldo. They've actually made a profit in the transfer market, I think it'd be a fairer comparison, when they sell Fabregas.

It possibly would be a fairer comparison, but where would that leave Arsenal once Fabregas has gone?

He's their most talented and talismanic player, and the one with the best leadership (albeit by default).

In comparison, the season after selling Ronaldo (and losing Tevez) we took the League down to the final day, and unluckily knocked out of the CL 1/4s where progression would have seen us in great shape to go on to lift the trophy.

Is that £10m for Tevez what we spent on his wages? If so it's surely unfair to include it in a net spend transfer list.

We were supposed to be paying £5m a year to have him, plus cover his wages , though the official fee wasn't announced.

According to our accounts, the net spend is around the £50m mark, even Andersred has confirmed as much. Some of your fees are off as they were higher than what the media reported, eg Anderson cost 30m euros, which was £20m at the time, Porto has released these details to the stock exchange. Nani was also £14m rising to 17m, Hargreaves 17m rising to £20m.

You can dig up the threads with the discussion between Redjazz, Andersred, GCHQ and co and all of them confirmed the £50m figure.

We can't stop here. This is bat country.
We'll kick their cnuts in at The Emirates.

The only thing in their favour is the lack of pressure on them now, so the potential to bottle it and shit themselves is reduced.

It might play out like a friendly, and Arsenal are class at friendlies (see above photo).
